    Aloha All,

Mahalo(thanks) for the great advice on how to handle drain lines on a Tonneau Cover. I just installed a RetraxPro on my 2019 SR5 and found myself wondering how to handle the drain lines.

After a few trial and errors I found that a Hose Barb Adapter (1/4” ID x 1/4” MIP) fit perfectly in the hose and dropped into the existing drain hole without flopping out. I picked up the hose barbs at Home Depot in the plumbing section.
Hope this helps anyone in a similar situation.

Thanks for the info! I tried searching around briefly and came out empty; a good angular slice at the tip seemed to do the trick.

I know it’s 8 months later, but I just found this post and just put my Retrax Pro cover on.

Did you do your drain tubes like Desert Ranger above mentioned? I haven't put in my drain tubes yet and do not want to drill holes in this thing.

I used OP's suggestions to improve drainage as detailed below.

Reducing bushing 3/8" male x 1/4" NPT female (installed into bed)
Barb 1/2" barb x 1/4 NPT male (clamped to tube)
    1/2" black vinyl tubing
    Hose clamps

I found Forstner bits to be superior for drilling through the bed in a clean and controlled fashion. Black RTV to seal the reducing bushings into bed. Having the threaded barb means I can remove easily. The thicker vinyl tubing doesn't kink like the thinner clear tubing supplied with the Retrax.

I didn't even think about this when I installed mine, I just drilled the drain holes in the bed out to one size smaller than the included tubes and pushed em through, but this would've been awesome. Has anyone had issues with the adapter clips on the bottom of the tonneau "tub"? I have one that isn't tight to the tonneau at all and just seems to drain water into the bed.

OP's idea meant that he didn't have to drill. Right? Or maybe I don't/didn't see the entire thread?
That's what I really am hoping for - no drilling and using the existing drain holes in the bottom of my bed.

Yeah I agree. Seems like his solution was no drill.

Good luck. Let us know how reproducing this goes.

I took two 3 inch x 3 inch pieces of aluminum. Cut hole larger than the drain tube. Use two short self tapping screws and attached to bottom of box. The plastic drains are now securely attached to the bottom of the box. Don't have to worry about knocking them off and helps keep water out of the bed.
