Hey guys I found out the retrax tonneau covers introduced a new rail system that uses the common T-Slot accessories.(* Edit* this is just the cover and slotted rails not the load bars shown here ) I guess these just came out about a month ago and if I can find a way to mount a cab high bed rack to it I think I’ll pull the trigger.

They come with a matte black (and I believe textured ) finish , the top of the cover itself can hold 500lbs distributed evenly , and the salesman I was talking to said the rails can support 500lbs .

I like the idea of a 3tier bed system keep valuables under the cover locked up.

Heavy bags and weather resistant items on top of the cover.

And long or permanent items on top of a rack .

That said how much does a typical bed rack and RTT weigh ?

Would 500lbs be enough to make a useable rack system?

The salesman didn’t say if this was a static weight rating or dynamic but I would assume it’s dynamic .

Oh and pricing is right under $2k

What is the 2k price for? My pro cover alone was worth 1900 brand new. Is the racks included in the 2k?

An RTT could be anywhere from 100-250 pounds depending on what model and how big. So I'd say that, even for a small 2 person RTT, you'd be pushing the weight limit with just two people in it. Unless the Static Load weight rating is higher than 500lbs. Assuming the static is higher you should be completely fine with most any RTT.

Yeah that’s what I’m afraid of me (200lbs) plus a RTT let’s just say another 200 lbs plus gear and a rack would be over the limit . I’ll call back these guys and see if they think static load would be higher

Oh so that's the cover price not the cover and racks together?
Do they offer a rack that is at the full height of normal racks?

Yes sorry if I confused anyone this is just a cover with optional rails, from what I understand they have 4 rail options now.

regular rails, wide rails for (GM models), pocket stake cutout rails, and these rails which accept T-Slot style accessories.

I dont think that they (Retrax) are offering any racks at the moment . you would have to add towers , tie downs, load bars, ect.. yourself from makers like thule, yakima, rhino, ect..

I want to add a modified rack from CBI, RCI, KB VooDoo, Dissent, or any of the other bed rack venders on here

How do I tag members on here? I want to see if any of these bed rack fabricators would want to modify one for me.

Contacted Retrax they wouldn't give me a weight rating for the rails and said they wouldn't even recommend strapping 500 lbs to the top of the cover. Apparently there 500 lb rating is for even distributed weight parked.

So pretty much a deadend for me.

500 lb is the rating for items placed directly on the blanket, not the load capacity of the rack rail system above the racks, no?

The 500lb rating for the retrax is for on top the panels when closed. It's pretty bogus, I found that even small loads on top they really start to deflect. The diamondback covers look a lot more robust.

M2 is 100% correct the weight limit is for things sitting directly on top of the slide / top —- the awesome thing about the new t- track system is it integrates the Yakima / thoule etc etc towers into it and those towers are resting on the top of the bed rails not the top of the slide, perfect for elevating your RTT or anything also above your bed and still keeping everything locked up & out of site
