Has anyone used Resonix Guardian in the door voids over CLD? Any clearance issues with the windows rolling down or other?

well the info & advice you get here is hit or miss... i got a couple guys outside of T.W. that are supposed to get back to me, i will ask them about resonix but it seems that multiple products layered is the "proper" way to go about it but maybe a single sheet (multi-layer) product mite be good enuf for most.

Yea. Multi layering different products would most likely be cheaper but I’m concerned they may separate with the summer heat.

well this turned into a bottomless rabbit hole....only reasonable thing i got outta all the research is choose a product with a buthl based adhesive as some have tar based adhesives that almost liquify in summer heat & slide down the inside of yor panels. Dyna-mat & Resonix seem to stand at the top of the heap, i found a 4 layer product on Vevor's site that was very budget friendly & if the adhesive looks thick enuf i will use it. I imagine it comes down to getting the metal clean & dry & rolling the crap out of the product insuring adhesion in yor case layering 2 products just add's to the number of things to go wrong. If i get mine done soon i will post an update, you do the same....

    Is it this Vevor product?

    https://tinyurl.com/3n8dyznn

That looks good for a CLD but the Resonix Guardian typically goes over it. I also can’t tell if the foam is closed cell. Website just says high density.

yes, thats it..... if it seems cheesy when i receive i thot i'd use it on my rear access doors and cab back & pop for the dyna-mat or resonix for the front doors

I have Resonix Guardian on my front doors currently.

Guardian is to be used on the OUTER DOOR SKIN on top of CLD.

No clearance issues whatsoever and the adhesive is top notch, IF you take your time with the installation and clean everything thoroughly before you install it, it will be fine and not come off during summer months.

This is a top of the line product it will not fail if installed correctly.

For the door voids at the very least you can use CLD(easiest), but it will be better if you fabricate proper block off plates with ABS plastic. It makes a huge improvement. I used CLD before and the difference is noticeable.

I went with ABS plastic block off plates because I went from 6.5” mid bass to 8” mid bass.

Guardian and CLD are TWO DIFFERENT products to achieve DIFFERENT objectives.

Guardian is a SOUND ABSORBENT/BLOCKER. CLD is a DAMPENER. Two different things.

You can use CLD by itself, but I wouldn’t use Guardian by itself because it NEEDS a layer of CLD below it IMHO.

Thank you very much for the info and photos...and yes, the plan is to use both CLD and Guardian. Was just worried about the clearance available.
What type of tape did you use over the Guardian seams?

Just Gorilla black tape. But that is just to “Dress-it-up”, not that anyone is ever going to see it besides me. It’s just the OCD kicking in.

There is PLENTY of clearance if you take your time and install it correctly.

Well, CLD is only a dampener, it does NOT absorb noise. Those are two different products for two different applications.

There is no foam, either closed or open cell in ResoNix Guardian. It is hydrophobic melamine foam. It also has MLV in it.

the Vevor stuff came yesterday, seems very flexabls for a 4 layer product thats 4-5mm thick, adhesive seems sticky enuf....at first i thot this wud go on the inside of the outer door but after navyDiver72 posts i wonder if it goes where he put his but he has diff products.... as far as the 3 letter abbreviations that everyone is throwing around for the diff types of products i am up the creek without a paddle20250319_141512.jpg 20250319_141534.jpg

The CLD is typically installed on both the inner and outer shell surfaces. That Vevor product supposedly also has a foam layer, although I can't see it from your side photo.
