I have an 07 that I just replaced the MAF sensor on-improved my MPG by 2 miles per gallon-but, the truck is still reading with codes showing its running lean on both sides. The boyfriend wants to have the fuel pressure tested-thinks its the fuel pump. It's been suggested to me to disconnect the battery for 20 mins to clear the computer and essentially start fresh. Good idea? He doesn't think so. Sounds sane to me. Thanks for anyones input.

Yes, disconnect the battery and see if it clears codes. It won't hurt anything. Testing fuel pressure won't hurt anything either.

If you decide to check the fuel pressure make sure you tee the gauge into the delivery pipe and not dead head it.

Tank >> Filter >> Pump >> Fuel delivery tubing >> Fuel Rail >> Fuel Rail Regulator ( Set to ~ 40 - 41.7 PSI) >> Return to tank.

If you tee into the delivery tubing the regulator still works and reads the regulated pressure ~ 40 - 41.7 PSI.

If you dead head a gauge at the delivery tube it reads full pump pressure ~ 60 PSI.

    While idling:
    Standard: (40.8 to 41.7 psi)
    • If the pressure is too high, replace the fuel pressure regulator.
    • If the pressure is too low, check the connection between the fuel hose and fuel pump.

    Stop the engine.
Check that the fuel pressure does not change for 5 minutes.
Standard: (21 psi)If the pressure is not as specified, check the fuel pump, pressure regulator and/or injector.

    I had to google it.

What Is the Difference between "Spilled" and "Spilt"? Spilled and spilt are interchangeable in the UK, but not in the US. If you're following US writing conventions, use "spilled." If you're following UK writing conventions, you should also use "spilled," but "spilt" is widely accepted.

Thanks for the information and the pop up vocab lesson :D If the reset is a no go, the pressure check will be done at my favorite top rated garage in Irving, Texas. (Lopez Auto.)

What I’ve noticed on mine, disconnecting & reconnecting the battery does the same thing as hitting erase codes. It goes through a relearn process, runs a bit different for awhile.

If you look at the GTC website, they have a good explanation of what the fuel trim readings all mean.

I tried erasing the codes(they reappeared pretty quickly). It's a bummer because at first we cleaned a the MAF sensor, but the engine light came on again. So now it's replaced but more codes. Ugh. Frustrating. It's an older truck tho-stuff is gonna go kaphlooey here n there.

    What’s the code?
    What’s the fuel trims?
Do the short term trims improve when driving?
Or do they get worse when driving?

You can check the fuel pressure, it’s probably not a bad idea.
