    Hey guys,

Got the wife a 4runner with 118k and knew it needed new front struts. What I did not realize was that bad Xreas requires full replacement.

So after some research, I will be ripping entire Xreas system out and replace with these 2011 TRD Tacoma front shocks + springs and rear shocks with the bushing replacements here http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/ENS0/98108G.oap?ck=Search_9.8108g_-1_-1&keyword=9.8108g

So I've got a local mechanic lined up that said he would totally remove Xreas (should I save or keep the lines on there??) for 4 hrs labor x $75/hr = $300 + tax.

That puts me at 330 labor + 100 shocks + $6 dollar bushings = $436 total for repair suspension that will last a long time..

Am I missing anything here? I know about the poly sway bar bushing, but going to hold off for now.

Lurked on toyota-4runner.org, but for some reason they won't let me post on their so I'm stuck with Tacoma guys with 4runners!!

    Cheers guys!

Funny, I just bought the same vehicle (less 18,000 mi) and decided to ditch my XREAS for 2013 TRD front and rear but adding another 1.5" in spacers to lift it without getting crazy... Also using the same energy bushings for the rears to fit. I have a guy to do it for $150 but we haven't talked about disconnecting the system, only swapping the suspension.

I found a link at T4R with details on capping the hydraulic system and leaving it in place, only removing the shocks. The previous owner actually had the XREAS system replaced around 85k so mine is functioning perfectly, I just want to lift and level it for vanity. Haha.

Looking at the picture of the shocks and the picture of the Energy Suspension bushings, where do you think the bushings will go? :)

    Wondering the same thing.

I just swapped the old coils from my Tacoma onto my wife's 4Runner and got about a 1.5" lift out of it. I'm not sure if any of you guys were expecting a lift out of this swap, but I read about people getting a small lift out of using Tacoma coils on the 4Runner.

If there's anyone who shows up to this thread and needs/wants tacoma coil springs let me know. I have the set I removed from my 2011 when I installed my OME kit taking up space in the garage.

Stock bushing pressed out with 20t press and 19&26mm socket.

I'm doing the same thing, XREAS out, TRD O/R suspension in. Trying to figure out the color coding on the front coils, if anybody has a clue it'll be much appreciated.

My original coils have different colors and markings than those you posted. It's more of a pink-white color over pink-white on the left coil and a dark green over pink-white on the right one. Maybe because mine are the TRD sport? I believe that the color codes dictate different spring rates and the color codes changed often over the years. So a 2007 TRD offroad will have different markings than a 2010 offroad.

Shoved the red rag into the coil hoping that it would make the darker green-blue color show up.

Rule of thumb that most people abide to on here is that the coil with matching top and bottom colors goes on drivers side. Coils with two different colors goes on passenger side.

Yours seem to elude that concept...

After a little digging around I suspect that you purchased yours from CaliKidTaco. A 2015 TRD Offroad. (You only have 3 postings so far).

Per another thread PeterT (2015 TRD Offroad):
    Driver side, Yellow above Pinkish.
    Passenger side, White above Pinkish.
    www.tacomaworld.com/identifying-right-and-left-coils.357887/

Adding the link was acting strange. If it doesn't work Google "2015 tacoma coil markings". Then select the link from Jan 2015 "identifying right and left coils" to see PeterT comment.

Thank you, so far everybody seems to think yellow dot is driver side.

And no, I almost bought his set but ended up with a local deal (also from a 2015 TRD O/R).

Well, if it's from a 2015 offroad then yellow dot is definitely driver.
Source: my buddy just checked his 2015 offroad when he got home from work.

    That's what I thought, too. My wife's 04 4Runner has:
    Yellow blue on driver
    Blue orange(?) on passenger

Just goes to show that you cannot believe everything that you read. Including here on TW. People have good intentions but don't know everything. They simply draw conclusions based on what they understand / perceived.

Toyota uses color codes to simplify the building process of the vehicles to prevent the left and right coils from being installed on the wrong side (different part numbers).

I'd say the only legitimate way to figure out which one belongs where is to verify against a stock vehicle of the same model year and package (ie; offroad).

In this case, TK4R needs to put the yellow dot on the driver side and white on passenger based on 2015 O/R being setup that way from the factory.

Basically, we (tacoma owners) should get into the habit of labeling which is which to better help out the next guy who gets coils from us in order to do this particular swap on their suspension.

Just FYI after installing yellow on driver side and white on pass side I get ~0.5" difference. With 0.25" spacers (0.5" lift) I got about 1.75" lift on driver side and 2.25" lift on pass side after the vehicle has been sitting for a day (not driven since I'm not done). I can remove the pass. side spacer to get equal lift but I was hoping there will be a smaller difference, if any.

I would take it for a short drive. Even though it sat overnight it's still not going to settle all the way without cycling the suspension a little bit. It's probably not going to even out, but ya never know. :notsure:

It needs more work before I can drive it so it's going to sit like this another couple days perhaps. Then we'll see.
