I have ran performance h11's, Hids, leds and currently h9's. The verdict is H9's are the best overall in the stock housing. The les look bright as hell and are really deceiving as they are not bright at distance but really light up the ground in front of the truck. Hid's were the best performing but these projectors are not built for them so you are still blinding everyone. Also the high white in the led's make driving on wet roads at night just miserable.

If you want LED replace the entire headlight assembly with one designed for LED. LED bulbs in halogen housings provide poor lighting for you and blind other drivers.

So good advice *above* on the H9s for effective upgrades.

If you have the coin the 2020+ OEM full led headlights are the bomb

Same here. I replaced the stockers with H9's the first month of ownership...and after lots of bitching about the uselessness of the stock bulbs. The H9's work much better for sure.

I put LED’s in my 2020 Tacoma, I think the 6500K and have been very happy with them and so far the snow buildup hasn’t been a problem, but I wax the headlights. I like the pattern of the lights and the brightness, even added LEDs to the high beams. I have never been flashed that my high beams are on when they aren’t.

Did you read the linked thread? You’ve decreased the performance of your head lamps with the bulb swap. It appears brighter, at the expense of distance down the road.

I did and I don’t see that. I like the LED bulbs and that is what matters to me.

maybe some day if I get some extra money or someone gives me some aftermarket LED headlights, I will put them in, but on a fixed income, I will go with this.

    The best performing H9s are like $20 a set…

LOL, right!!! Cheaper than the cheapest LED (which you can GUARANTEE is crappy)

This is the reason Crash put as much work (a LOT of work) into his testing. What people "feel" and truth are often very far apart, his testing proves that although many "feel" LED bulbs work better in actual measured testing they don't in any and every way that matters. At the end of the day most thing "road more bright, more better" but lighting the pavement in front of you doesn't help, its lighting that faintly visible thing WAAAAAAY out there that does. The stock halogens put way more than enough light onto the asphalt in front of the truck, what matters is giving the driver more reaction time, and that is distance projection.

After install, you will likely point the headlights at a wall and see funny boxes of light that extend above the level-line of light. Those boxes are normal effects of the "reflector assembly".

The H9 will install in the H11 connector after you pull the green adapter.

The H9 is a halogen bulb, same as you have in the high beam reflector housing. The Phillips H9 out performs your LED without the blinding glare to incoming traffic. Yes $20 a pair.

Also agree... H9s make a big difference. Have since switched to OEM full LEDs but before that I updated the low beams to H9s and was very happy with the improved lighting.

Stuffing LEDs into halogen/projector headlights will likely lead to numerous issues. Been there, done that.
