Has anyone replaced the gauge on a Viair 88P? As most who own them will agree that the gauge is notoriously inaccurate, replacing it with a higher quality gauge would make sense.

I've recently replaced the battery clamps with Anderson connectors and am waiting on a Flexilla hose to replace the original.

Is the gauge thread 1/8 NPT or is it metric?

Innacurate by how far? Mine is pretty good to ±1 psi.

Silly question - you're turning the pump off to take a reading, right?

Yep, turned off it's about 5#'s off. Of course I could just leave it and make the mental adjustment, but I'll have it apart to replace the hose so if I could kill 2 birds with one stone, I'd like to use a more accurate gauge.

Yeah thats pretty far off. Good luck with it. I'm betting that if you take the old gauge to a Grainger or an Ace hardware they will be able to match the threads.
