I was going to replace the front struts/coil springs on my truck with new Bilstein 4600 and OEM coils and was going to have a Auto shop do the work. Was discussing with the owner about pricing and said to include new Strut mounts with the parts, are these a replacable item? or can you use the old ones because the Toyota OEM mounts are $61.79 a piece, Rockauto has Gabriel and Sachs brand around $25-$30 apiece. Was the owner just talking about replacing the Coil spring insulators or the complete Strut mount, I am not quite sure if the mount can be reused and just to purchase new Insulators and reuse the old Strut mount? I am supplying the parts to do the work. Heres the mount http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=4257474&cc=1429084&jnid=511&jpid=3 heres the insulatorshttp://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=1028429&cc=1429084&jnid=510&jpid=0 and coil seathttp://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=1005778&cc=1429084&jnid=509&jpid=0 what is really necessary to replace these struts/coils.

The stem buhings I would replace but the isolator is not needed unless you just want to.

thanx for the heads up info I found this http://parts.camelbacktoyota.com/pa...ber=4860935010&vehicleid=174984&siteid=214329 diagram of the front strut assembly its showing 1 stem bushing Item #5 and a top nut the Bilstein kit has a top nut no bushing so I am thinking of getting this Gabriel kithttp://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=4257474&cc=1429084&jnid=510&jpid=3 it looks to include the Stem bushing and insulator with all new hardware so nothing should be missing when they do the install although I am hoping its not just specific for use with GABRIEL struts??

I had 200,000 miles on my truck when I took my spacer lift off and added this lift so it just depends on how many miles you have or what your strut mounts look like. It's nice to have new one's since you're in there anyways

You have a washer, bushing, top hat, bushing, washer, nut in that order. The shock will have its own nut b/c the shaft is larger on the 4600/5100's. The Gabriel doesn't have enough bushings and washers. You need 2 each for each side for a total of 4 bushings and 4 washers.

thanx again, it looks like the Wheelers stem bushings is what I will need and Insulator, and use the hardware on the original strut will suffice. I went to the Stealership for a estimate on replacement>>3 hours labor $413 and an alignment $90:eek: I went to American Tire Company where I get my tires he said $278 plus tax everything, but he was the dude that said to get the strut mount stuff so I got to get the necessary parts to do it so theres no hiccups:fingerscrossed:also the truck has 255k miles on the OE coils the original shit bag shocks Bilstein were changed at 77k miles to the Bilstein 4600s now they are wasted.

Not sure if blisteins have this or not, but i just changed my front struts and rear shocks last weekend, and went with complete assemblies for the struts, it has everything already together, all you have to do is put it on the truck, no spring compression or any of that. Other then one of the nuts that held on the strut on the left side being rusted to the point that it was pretty much rounded.

I just replaced all mine also, TRD coils were toast, leaf packs toast, as well. Had 4600's but went 5100's now. I used Moog non TRD constant rate 460# coils. Rides like a Cadillac!

Idk, I set my 5100's to 1.25". May set higher due to old coils sagging.

OEM progressives left and right =$224 shipped, MOOG 81100=bout $50 pair:annoyed:aint digging what this dude said about the 81104
Front strut and coil spring replacement ride height question...
Are all the add a leaf kits basically the same? Will http://www.ebay.com/itm/ADD-A-LEAF-REAR-1-5-2-LIFT work[IMG] good?

Also came about a problem from the moog coil springs lifting the front. My cv boots are spewing grease now. I've seen tons of different responses new clamp, cv boot, or axle swap. I'm thinking I'll just drive it till the boot goes bad and replace the axle

You are not going to get enough lift out of a factory ride height coil to do damage to CV's. Short add a leafs are junk, ride crappy. Why lift the rear and not the front?

I just bought the Bilstein 4600's, and they did not come with any of the stem bushings... man I am pissed!!! Why would they not include these with the struts? I didn't even think twice as to whether or not they would be included. After all, why wouldn't they be?

Yeah, I will probably just give them a shot. I noticed you had posted a link above for new bushings, but I can't seem to find the right kit for the 4600's (I still have my original strut spring mounts). Oh well, I have about the same mileage you do, so I will just run what I have I guess.
