@PaCific-TaCo The bearing should have been pressed onto the hub where the end of the hub is flush with the outside of the bearing, at the center - hope that makes sense. How did you push the bearing back out? If you pressed on the outside of the bearing, that may explain the excessive play. I'm afraid you need to get a new bearing - if the excessive play is in the bearing itself.

And here I thought it was just a straight bolt on bolt off situation. Does it really take a press if you are just replacing the whole thing in the picture? Screenshot_20220706-205116_DuckDuckGo.jpg

What you're showing IS straight bolt on / bolt off. NO press required as it's the whole wheel bearing hub assembly.

    Oh.
Seems like the easier solution than going through all the hell of presses and stuff. At least for us low tech dirt driveway mechanics.

Although that should be a bolt on part with no press work required, I've never heard of any of those brands. (SKF - yes. SKP - no.) Beware cheap bearings unless you like replacing them regularly.

Just buy a hub assembly from rockauto. They are cheap and easy to install. It is just 4 bolts you need to unscrew and the cv axle if you have a 4wd. It is plug and play.

I'd also add that the guy on here sells hubs in pairs, because if you're replacing 1 hub, then the other probably isn't far behind.

Don't forget the brake line bracket bolt aka the jesus bolt. It's necessary, don't leave it out.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents.
After getting my front passenger side wheel bearing replaced by Toyota for a whooping $950+ about six months ago, the drivers side starts making noises and I figure it's time for it to be replaced as well.
But I'm not paying another $950, I'm fed up with Toyota service robbers, they tried to get me to buy a whole new drive shaft about three months ago when all I needed was a new seal which I replaced myself.
Anyway I digress, I watched a lot of youtube videos on replacing the whole assembly and of course I read as much as I could here on Tacom World and I got the confidence to do it myself. Some members recommended bluepitbearings.com which I did eventually end up using for the prerunner 4x2, a little more than the rockauto ones but again they were highly recommend so I went with them. https://bluepitbearings.com/products/ols/categories/toyota-tacoma
The install started off rough, broke off three lug bolts on the old hub, panic because I thought I'm going to have to go somewhere to get this fixed, after a few moments of calm thought I was like dumbass, you got a whole new assembly with all the lug bolts attached, all you need to do is get the wheel off which I finally did. Everything else went smooth, cleaned up the mating surface which wasn't bad and bolted it back up. Roaring and squeaking noises are gone away.
Big thanks to all you Tacoma World members, I've just been a reader up to this point for the past few years but I wanted to thank everyone for all this Tacoma knowledge you guys share, I appreciated it.

I just bought a pair of front wheel bearings from bluepitbearings.com and they are the best. I received them 2 days after I ordered them. Packaging was bullet proof. Thanks for the write up!!!

I may be following this same scenario on my '09 TRD Sport 4x4. Which wheel hub assembly did you purchase from bluepitbearings? The OE RF bearing was replaced @ 117K miles by the dealership for $650 ($400 was labor....ugh). I now have 213K miles. I don't mind spending $$$ for quality parts, thanks!

If you don't mind me asking, what makes them "the best?"

They are pressed and bolt on. No fuss, the packaging was indestructible. I got the OEM set up.

Just because they're pre-assembled and come in a fancy box does not mean they're "OEM." Lots of people are fooled by fancy marketing and packaging. What you never know is the manufacturing process used, the material specifications and how long the part was actually designed to last. Small differences here can lead to dramatic differences down the road. I don't have enough personal experience with Bluepit products to pass judgment on them, but I've seen way too many aftermarket products that don't hold a candle to OEM.

You clearly didn't go to the website, if you did, you wouldn't have asked if they were any good. You would have figured out that they are as good as factory (because they are) and you don't have to pay someone to press the bearings. When assembled like this, You could change them out yourself if you have a 5th grade education in your driveway in an hour. They are OEM parts assembled, that makes them the best.
I have included two pictures, one is of OEM parts and how you receive them from the dealer. The second is how you receive the OEM parts from bluepitbearings.com

    From the website: https://bluepitbearings.com/product...oem-hub-koyo-oem-front-wheel-bearing-assembly

"2005-2022 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 ALL TOYOTA OEM PARTS with TOYOTA OEM HUB/KOYO OEM Bearing Front Wheel Bearing Assembly

These EXACT same TOYOTA parts at a TOYOTA dealership individually list for $465.67 + tax + labor for assembly = OVER $500 total cost

    YOUR SAVINGS ARE OVER $160"

I stand corrected. Thank you for the link.

I get all of my parts for wholesale because my son is a Toyota Service Technician, so I don't have to pay retail or worry about the use of special tools or equipment to assemble them - which is an unfair advantage. For anybody not having that unfair advantage, that looks like a good way to go.

So, the bluepits come with the oil seals as in the photo? My front bearings aren't cooked yet but I am at 136,000 miles and also close to needing brakes again, so I am thinking of getting a set and doing it all at once.
