Howdy all - long time lurker, formally created an account to join in the fun.

I did perform a search - no salvation for answers to my issue. I ordered an OEM roof rack for my '19 TRD Off-Road to carry canoes and kayaks on local family adventures. I installed it reasonably successfully with no leaks (yet), however a lot of the OEM allen bolts stripped like they were made of freaking room temperature butter and I wanted to just yank it all and replace with 316 stainless hardware and RTV up all the holes to make sure it'll stay dry and trouble-free in the long term.

My question to the throngs: does anyone have the specs on the bolt sizes and thread pitches for the OEM roof rack, or am i stuck pulling it apart and bringing all the parts to the local Fastenal?

    TIA for any help.
    -Drew

If the supplied fasteners were that weak I would stay away from them completely. I surmise better fasteners from an outfit such as Fastenal should be a fairly inexpensive solution.

I totally feel you. I had heard that those bolts were pretty soft so I went really slow and gently and still managed to strip a few. If you can get a hold of the install instructions (which are terrible, by the way) it lists all of the hardware and the sizes. I took that to a local specialty screw shop and they pulled them together with no problem. None of the big box stores will have those bolts, from what I found.

    See if this helps ...

From what I remember Lowes had them in stainless, in the special fastener drawers, when I replaced mine.

No problem. To be fair, I found that on another forum post and did a screen shot. But I did keep my install instructions if you need them.

Right ... I wanted them in black ... but they didn't have the button heads, if I recall. I got them from this crazy place that carries every screw in the world, apparently. It was bonkers. I walked up to the window, gave them the list and they came back with all of the screws and it cost like $4. I felt so fortunate I gave the guy a $5 to get a cup of coffee. :)
