I have an 02 Tacoma double cab with a leer topper. The hinge on the top of the window has broken. After talking to a couple topper dealerships, it sounds like I works either need to buy a new topper or a whole back window replacement, both options are too expensive. Any suggestions on how to find another back window assembly or other options? Thanks!

Yeah, it's pricey. My Leer 100r ended up with a final bill of close to 600 dollars. Thankfully I had only my 50 dollar deductable to pay as the good ol' insurance came through and covered it. Took like 4-6 weeks for that damn frame/glass to arrive as well. It was April of 2021 so that might have had something to do with it. Supply chains... pfft.

Your best bet if you aren't going to shell out for a replacement frame/window from a dealer is to scour craigslist or Facebook marketplace for an identical model cap that perhaps has the back door glass busted out. Might luck out and find just the door available.

That's about your best option. You can't really fab up a replacement hinge since it's part of the frame. Also won't find a supplier who has just the frame in stock... It's a special order thing these days.

The one thing about caps, extremely limited part availability from non-manufacturer sources. Why I always say never, ever purchase a cap with busted out glass. More than likely, it's NOT a 'deal'.

    Good luck.

I had a Leer hinge come loose. It must have stressed the other side when the window was swinging in the wind because about a year later the other side broke.
As it was 20 years old I did not think to look for a replacement and just made an aluminum replacement.
Later on a whim I saw this. Oh well at least they are stronger now. Remarkably there was no other damage to the tailgate etc, still can't believe it.

Replacement carved from a handy piece of 4" alu angle.
Pics will do the explaining. The "cap side" of the hinge broke clean in two.

Unless he has the old school hinge shaped like an S running the entire length of the frame which was what I had...errr have.

The frameless windows are much easier
