What color? I know that @malburg114 has a white 1st gen SAS, but he's in (or close to) Vegas. Regardless, has a sick 1st gen...

I'm pretty sure this is the same truck. I grabbed a screen shot from a KOH video.

Thanks. Is that Phil big into ultra 4? I have a friend with a Colorado ZR2 that just got a full removal of all the factory stuff and went back with radflo. He said a guy in Gardnerville did it.
On edit, disregard, a quick google search would have answered my question.

Yes, Phil does a ton of race and Ultra 4 stuff. Many refer to him as 'shock jesus' if that gives you an idea of how regarded he is is tuning shocks. I'll be taking a couple of our rigs to him this spring/summer for tuning. Never met him myself but know plenty of people that use him for shock tuning and rebuilding.

Awesome, thanks! Both of my fronts are starting to weep. I dont know a ton about suspension, but the abundance of preload and 600# coils I think is causing problems. They seem to top out and clunk when I go over a sharp bump at any speed. Maybe causing the leak... idk, but I know it cant be good...I'll reach out to him to get things squared away.

Don't know who the current owner is but I'm pretty sure the guy that originally built it is a current customer of ours that switched over to a building a Gladiator. He's down in Fresno/clovis and was telling me about his black 1st gen build he sold to a guy from Reno and I saw one pic of it, I believe thats the one.

If the shocks are topping out over speed bumps, whoops, and similar offroad then theres not enough down travel(truck is lifted more than the shocks are happy about). A rebuild sounds in order, possibly a revalve as well, but to 'soften' the top out of the shock(and not fully allow the shock to hit its limit) a set of limit straps added to the truck would be ideal. That would keep them from being damaged in the future and also silence full droop for you.
A 600 lb spring really isn't likely an issue and as long as the coil doesn't bind from too much preload at full compression(bottomed out on the bump stops) then just keep the 600s. It'll still ride softer with 600s than with the common 700s everyone runs.
For example my wifes 3rd gen on long travel has 550lb front springs, but they're longer than the original 600s so they're preloaded without any threads showing. Rides better than 700s or 600s on there

I've done a little reading on it, and the length of shock just sitting was very close to where Accutune said it was supposed to be... I have theories, but know so little about it, they don't really mean squat. Info about this specific problem has been hard to find. I think a rebuild with new valving and a heavier coil is the minimum. I'll happily lean on someone that knows what they are doing.

Is this the stuff yall used around body panels when you guys cut em up? I've decided I'm gonna chop the lower corners of my front bumper and cut fender liner up. Got new fog lights in the other day and after pulling back fender liner partially as well as marking where it seems to be rubbing, I got fed up with it. I'm ready to cut the bumper and liners way back lol.

Plus that approach angle. or something like that.

this is the plan. follow that line already in the bumper. pic stolen from google

@skidooman do you know if they are the standard travel or extended travel shocks? What UCAs are you running?

That's similar to what I used. I found it at o'reilly but any of the auto parts stores should have it. I used clear silicon to adhere it to the bedsides when I cut them for my rear bumper.

Well that would rule out either of the potential causes I was thinking of.
