Just curious, can a Tacoma with a 3” lift and some protection do slick rock?

I have a MWB 2nd gen with a 3" lift 33" tires full skids and sliders with kickouts and NO plans on taking mine on it in the near future.
High clearance bumpers, lockers, a crawlbox, bigger tires & sorter wheelbase would be a big help

Sliders are a must. First time I did SR I was on 265s in my tacoma. That was before the new section was put in which has arguably the hardest obstacles now. Also, the trail itself has gotten a little harder over the years. But, that being said, with sliders and a spotter you could do it. I believe in the taco!

As always, we'll be going in the spring if you want to go.

Hi All. Any recommendations for a fall desert camping trip outside of Reno. Gerlach and yellow rock canyon looks cool. Mites?

Mites are only in certain hot springs.

Just get some good maps and explore around. Plenty of public land to find your own special spots. It’s probably easier to list places you shouldn’t go than places you can.

    Don't go west :p
    True story!
Depends on what direction you run it. From alpine to Utica is definitely easier.

It could be done with an experienced wheeler and good spotter. Just my opinion...

Yes - really bad at the soldier meadows hot creek. I did not go to the pool on the ranch. The gate to pay for camping was closed.

They aren't life threatening. Just itchy. If you keep your towels, clothing etc. away from the springs and then dry off and spray some bug spray on you, you probably won't get bit. It is like a mosquito bite but much more itchy and lasts a week.

Yeah, definitely not life threatening but still suck. Good thing there are tons of others! When we make hot spring trips we now just typically avoid the ones over there.

Thought I was being funny but nobody caught it. Anyway, just a reminder for those with the OV Tune. Gerlach and Empire do not have premium gas. I had to limp out on fumes. Had to drive 55 to get back to Love's. Had 5 miles left on the gauge.

Doesn't that mean you have like 25 miles left?

At least. I ran the wifes truck down to zero and then some one time on our way home. We took the back way down high rock rd/surprise valley rd on our way back from a trip in Oregon and I hit zero miles around Winnemucca ranch rd. Filled at the Eagle canyon 7 11 with 20.8 gallons
