Depends what your intended use is and what you're expecting it to ride like weber. Mid travel does pretty good, much better than stock, but when it comes to really getting on it in the dirt it won't compare to a true lt setup IMO.

^Exactly. The answer is always...it depends.

There's also a big mistake I see happen over and over again. There is absolutely no sense in spending the money on LT up front if you are not going to do the same to the rear. It's a waste of money. You'll be bucking the ass of the truck (or break it) trying to get 30% of use out of the front. The rear should be built to outperform the front. I ran my midtravel up front with a complete rear SUA LT and beat the living snot out of it.

Any plans for next weekend? I think moon rocks would be a cool spot to explore from one day.

Man lots of Reno forums going on now its getting a little hard to keep up, but it would be cool to get out and get a big convoy going of Tacomas. Not totally up to beating the shit out of my truck but I love to go trail exploring. Also does anyone know whose truck that is that is always parked in the Costco parking lot ARB on the front?

Yeah, we ran up Jumbo to VC and out the VC highlands and came down behind Damonte/Hidden Valley a couple weeks ago. Would have been a good run for you todd. Nothing crazy, just lots of offroad.
Its a silver 2nd gen right, looks kind of like Max's but not as modded? I think ive seen it there, but dont know who it is.

That sounds like a lot of fun I haven't been up to VC in YEARS and was planning on making a day trip out of it soon...not off roading that is but that sounds like a much better way of getting around.

And yeah that is exactly what the truck looks like.

i was looking up prices for mid travel and long travel setups for the front and it just seems to be a waste to buy the mid tavel and not gop all the way with long travel.

There's much more than means the eye with LT.

You can get a used LT front kit and used 8" shocks for a decent deal on DR, but that's only 1/3 of the equation. As I mentioned before, there's no point going LT up front and getting 13-14" of travel if you don't have ~30% more travel out of the rear. Right now bump to strap I'm at about 13" up front and 16" in the rear. Aside from that you still need to do a bed cage, frame boxing, frame plating, coil bucket gussets, spindle gussets, camber tab gussets, shock tuning and possibly revalving, limit straps, bumps...the list goes on. On top of that is upkeep. LT is NOT a set it and forget it type suspension.

Read through these threads if you haven't already

On a different note, I know most (if not all) of you guys are in Reno/Sparks. But if anyone is in the Tahoe area or you guys feel like taking a drive Tahoe (specifically Zephyr Cove) Sunday June 3rd, I'll be unloading the moving truck and becoming a NV permanent!

Round Hill beverage is just a couple blocks away from my house and they have a beer cave with like 400 beers and I have no problem stocking my fridge for anyone who feels like helping out. Either way, I look forward to wheeling with you guys.

No sense in starting two threads, but if anyone's up for it, feel free to post up here:
