Currently looking to purchase a bed cover that can handle heavy loads including a top tent. I initially saw the diamondback bed cover with the frontrunner load bars on lastlineofdefense's youtube channel. However, Renegade Truck Bed Covers seems to offer a similar bed cover that has a premade system for installing a rack system. Im tempted to go with the renegade system. Does anyone have any experience with either of these two bed covers? Thank you!

I have the diamondback hd cover on my 2020. It’s the best accessory I’ve ever put on a car or truck. It just plain works. I have the voodoo fab mounting brackets that will work with diamondback for my roof top tent. The biggest issue is that you can’t really open the cover with the tent installed. I’m guessing with integrated rails you’d have the same problem. I’ve never used the renegade but I’m adding a diamondback to all my trucks going forward. The cost is the only downside.

The Diamondback covers are great. Renegade's look to be excellent as well. If the Renegade cover had been available when I purchased the Diamondback, I would have still chosen the Diamondback. Four reasons - Renegade Truck Bed Covers does not have their address available - that makes me wonder if the company can support their warranty/guarantee, what are they hiding? Oh - they have no warranty/guarantee! Or at lest they don't tell you what it is. Also the cost, and proprietary mounting system on the bed.

The diamondback covers are made in Pennsylvania and their aluminum organizer is excellent too. It’s all hand welded and it’s super light which is nice in a midsized truck. You definitely get what you pay for. Buy once, cry once.

I have owned a Renegade Cover for 8 months now. I would choose them over Diamond Back and here is why.

    1. The Renegade Cover can handle a 2,000 lb payload.
    2. Expandability with the Renegade Racks for overlanding. The racks hold up to 1,600 lbs with no drilling required.
    3. I wanted multiple tie down points. If I chose the DiamondBack I would have to commit to the boat anchors. With the Renegade I can choose where to put the tie downs each time I load.
    4. The Renegade has keyless security. All I have to do is lock my tail gate and no one can get to my firearms stored in the bed.

I think both the Diamond Back and the Renegade Covers are great products. It appears that Renegade's Website has been updated since July 2020. They list their address and warranty details now. I have interacted with their customer support a lot upon purchasing and I have not had a problem.

    Good luck shopping.

I have the Diamondback HD and love it. It was an outlet cover marked down $300 for a tiny cosmetic issue. I don’t have the front runner rails or a RTT but I did like the idea of having the load capacity to add them down the road. I don’t have any experience with Renegade good or bad, just giving my thumbs up on Diamondback.

I'll echo what the others in here have said about the Diamondback. I have the HD and love it. Its my favorite and most useful accessory I've put on my truck. I've hauled all kinds of stuff on it, sat on top of it while grilling food and watched fireworks with my wife and her friend, and shoot long range rifle off of it when I need a bit higher elevation than the ground. The finish is tough as nails and the locking mechanism is robust.

That's just silly. even 1600lb is a joke for a Tacoma bed, and suspension. An SE cover from DiamondBack is more than enough for the Tacomas payload.

It's not like your going to increase your payload with an HD cover.

My DB SE cover was $1329. The Renegade is $2300. That's a bunch of money for a cover that needs access via the tailgate.

I have a Diamondback HD. I've had it for over a year and I'm very happy with it.
When I saw the video about the Renegade cover the first thing I didn't like was the locking system.
Having to open the tailgate wasn't a big deal but losing the cargo tie-down rails was.
It just depends on how you are going to use it.

Diamondback SE with Frontrunner rack system. I have zero complaints. It just works and works well.

Diamondback HD on mine. No regrets. Works great and looks great, too.

I’ve never heard about this cover and it seems very good. I have a Diamondback. I’m interested in how it locks and the video doesn’t provide any information on how it works. The website does little to explain their locking mechanism either.

A pet peeve of mine is how someone releases a website without proof reading it first. Shouldn’t it be proprietary versus property? C’mon man!905DBF92-DA96-4D76-8C12-A803C3E9FD17.jpg

Interesting. Could be. You could throw ‘private’ in front of it and it would be more clear

They tell you they are THE MOST SECURE COVER ON THE MARKET but they don’t tell you anything about it nor show you how it works, lol. If I had something that good I can assure you I’d be showing everything you need to know so you’d turn your back on Diamondback. Now that I think about it, this is precisely the reason why I never heard a peep about them.

I have the Diamondback SE ... I'm a total fan of it for secure storage. Definitely consider the bin. I have the bin 8 and allows stuff to slide under it.
