I've seen other posts on how to remove the hood scoop (https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/hood-scoop-removal.342670/) and I've removed the stick on lettering already so I've had some experience. I am just curious if anyone out there has removed the hood scoop and can tell me how it looks. If I'm going to destroy my hood by taking it off then I would rather just learn to live with it. Its a 2013 so it could possibly leave some marks.

    Thanks

Since I couldn't get any feedback on what it might look like after it comes off I just decided to go for it and take pictures so it might help someone else. I used 20lbs fishing line and a blow dryer and got the scoop off in about 15 minutes. Getting the adhesive tape off took another 2.5hrs. I used goo gone, a plastic putty knife, and a sham cloth. There is only a faint mark left on the car. I am going to see what I can learn about buffing and waxing and see if I can touch it up. I removed the tacoma tags on all sides as well with the same result. Its only noticeable from within arms reach. Hit me up if you have any questions.

I believe its a factory option since the whole truck has XSP-X options on it

Good job done. A light polish/scratch remover will get those marks off.

I never knew they did that either. Non-funtional hood scoop is one thing, cheesy stick on ones is a whole new low!

Yea thought it was a real fake/non-functional hood scoop.

But thanks for posting it, now in case someone else is looking to do the same thing.

    X-SPX is a southern/gulf states, dealer/port installed option.

Also use some rubbing compound followed by a good wax. That should get the rest of the adhesive marks off.

Now for the $.64 question...what are you going to do with the scoop?

Seeing the factory stick on hood scoop hurts my heart. Good riddance to that hood scoop!

I'm not a big fan of a stick on hood scoop either, the factory hood with the molded in scoop has much more style.

Some rubbing compound would help to blend the paint back to normal.

    Taczilla,
I once bought a new Camry from Rice Toyota in Greensboro.
When I saw my first XSP-X
I thought someone added the hood scoop but after seeing a few on the road I came to realize it was the way they came.

Does the XSP-X come with a locker?

Yeah I like the other stuff that comes with the package since its all cosmetic shit that doesn't really get in the way. I don't have the side graphics because which is good because thats not my thing. The scoop was too much for me to handle though. It served no purpose other than to pretend to look like something functional, and I had to see it every day. I'll try the polish and scratch remover. Thanks.

No locker on the one I got. It has a bed extender and a bed cover.

XSP-X is simply a base model tacoma with earnings put on it... as such doesnt have a locker or any of the TRD options (bed outlet, better shocks etc)

You can still buy the XSP-X package at a reduced price from Rice Toyota.
