I heard about this and decided to try it. Hope it didn’t smash bread into something important. If it did, I guess we live and learn.

I couldn't tell - what did you bang into the hole? Also, I guess there's not a loan-a-tool parts store nearby?

My favorite YouTube hero "SurvivalRussia" used Bear fat and cloth strips to push out a main bearing in his tracked "Gator" AMAZING.

I’ve seen this same idea done with strips of paper towel and grease.

Anything that can provide hydraulic pressure should do the trick, some methods being better than others.

I tried the bread trick on the pilot bearing on my '94 Ranger but couldn't get it to work, so I rented the bearing puller tool instead.

I normally gently grind a slot in them...once you get close it turns blue then split w/ a chisel

I did the same thing last week, but with damp newspaper strips. It was slow going, but ended up working.

It took about 4 full sheets of newspaper to get it out.

It was a bolt from the transmission. There was one but I wanted to try this out.

I wonder if it works better with butter. Everything is better with butter.

    Everything but the driveshaft. B03A - 410
Works for me when the bolt is just under the size of the pilot bearing ID.

I did it about a month ago with breed. Took all of 5 minutes.

I like it, but I just checked - no bread in my toolbox.

I’ve used toilet paper and water for years. Grease is too messy, but with the toilet paper, after the bearing is out just pry the hardened toilet paper out and into the trash can.
