Hey all. I just picked up a leer 100xq. Beautiful, except it had a decal in the back glass that seems to be surrounded by what I think is hard water stains? Same on the inside. I tried vinegar and windex, won't work. Any suggestions?

Satoshi, debadged, rear view mirror bracket, tail gate hose clamps, trimmed mud flaps.
Not sure about the sticker imprints, but vinegar should work for the water spots. I suggest to keep the water spots wet for a couple hours with the vinegar. With the truck in a covered area or garage, swing the window open and keep it open. Maybe try to lay vinegar soaked paper towels over the window to keep it wet for a couple hours. It will probably wipe right off after that.

As an fyi, I use vinegar to clean my saltwater tanks, and trust me, the coroline deposits are MUCH harder than water spots.

may have etched into your glass. My mom had a vinyl on her rear glass for 5 years and now the outline is still there. I have tried everything and can't get it off. Turns out it actually etched into the glass.

Haven't tried yet. I'm gonna give it one last ditch effort with Bar Keepers Friend before I order anything else

Does no one else see the irony in the fact that the removed decal was for a car detailing business?

That would beabrasive which will only scratch the glass and cause you more problems.

Bar keepers friend won't scratch the glass. My dad does it all the time. It actually polishes it.

To the OP, try rubbing alcohol on the hard water stains. It's worked for me before.

Try a polish for removing swirls and scratches on paint. Pair that up with a heavy cutting pad and an orbital polisher.

I don't have my orbital here but some elbow grease on "Car" and the last 4 of the phone number with bar keepers friend. Working decent.

Yep. I've been down this road before. Glass is way harder than auto paint. So you can really lay into it if needed. And sometimes you need to. Not certain that is the case here but most times I have to go at it with rotary + wool + aggressive compound

May be best to contact a local detailer. Would involve taping all the surrounding trim & paint so not to burn any of that

Not sure if this will work. This was some nasty hard water spotting.

Steel wool, good glass cleaner and meguiars polishing compound. Spray the window with glass cleaner, then put a drop of compound on steel wool and start waxing. Tape off rubber seals, so they don't become white forever. If you do get some compound on the rubber use alcohol to get it off, but you have to do it before it dries on the rubber.
