Anyone have experience removing the paint protection film?

I have the full package installed from the factory or distributor or whatever. Its on the hood, front bumper, rear fenders, door cups, mirrors, door edges, etc.

It has pits in it and the pits get dirty and the edges look like crap since its discolored.

I can get a brand new kit for $325 (PT907-35190) so I'm thinking its time to remove the old and replace it.

If anyone has experience with this, please chime in so I don't take the paint with the film.

Hair dryer on low. Get it warm and pliable. Pull slowly and take your time. There’s never a guarantee that ya won’t pull paint. If it was done post delivery to the dealer you should be ok.

I bought the truck new with this film on it May 1, 2020. Does that mean its post dealer or is it distributor installed or something worse?

If the truck is white odds are higher that paint may peel when removing from a metal surface. Plastics like mirrors should be fine.

I removed mine with no intention to replace. As it will just wind up like what you have now.

Of course it is. The bumper looks fine, its the hood and mirrors that look bad.

What gets me is that every inch of the front is covered in film except for the grill surround.

If the entire hood is done not just the front edge then probably had a company come out and do it.

Do this all the time as my neighbor is a professional detailer and installed PPF. Hot bucket of water. One person pours while the other pulls off at a hard angle, working slowly to avoid leaving behind adhesive.

I just bought a 2021 that has this as well. Of course it's white. I'm afraid it's rust forming under the stickers.

Clothes steamer is what I used last week to pull mine off. I'm sure a heat gun would work to on lower heat.

I haven't tackled this on my 2019 yet, but the amount of dirt trapped under the edges of this film is astonishing.

The dealer applied film on the edges of the rear doors came off accidentally. I'm overdue for a polish and wax application on my 22, hope I can remove it without issues.

I work in Paint Protection Film and the best thing to pull off old film is a steamer. Hands down works wonders. Any glue or film left take a drill with a rubber wheel and slowly erase the adhesive.
