I did a quick search and likely overlooked it, but does anyone have a link to a video or instructions on removing the bed rails & factory tonneau cover?

I just reached an agreement on purchasing one tomorrow from another member but we are going to have to take the bed rails off both trucks and I wanted to be prepared for it instead of blindly going at it when we met.

    Thanks in advance.

Take off your bed rails and you'll know how to take off his. I think/believe that the tonneau is held in place by the bolt up front on the tonneau on the passenger side.

Yeah I found a youtube video from a local dealership on removing the cover, just looking for info now on the bed rails, it seemed simple enough, honestly haven't even looked closely at my rails but didn't know if this was a complicated task or pretty simple/quick.

You guys probably want to swap the plastic so you don't have to cut yours.

They just pop off. I was very nervous doing it, but once the first clip pops up they come on out real easy. I started from the cab and worked back. There are also two rubber pieces u will have to get off his truck. They are where the two corners of the bed meet by the cab.Take notice how much stiffer and rigid the non cut rails are compared to the cut ones. This almost made me back out of my purchase.

Thanks for the info. Sounds easy enough. With that said, now that you have the cover, any regrets?

Is this a forum on installing the trifold cover? I want to remove mine . I'm planning on adding some rails so I could have a pop up tent!

One of the vendors on here sells rails that are compatible with your cover so you can mount a rtt. Can't fold your cover though

Hey Chase, I just did this with another member. We met in Chattanooga and made the swap in a Wal-Mart parking lot. I was selling the cover and swapping for his uncut bed caps. I wanted to figure this out before meeting, so I completely disassembled mine at home before meeting.

As said, the plastic caps are held on by plastic push in clips that are molded into the bottom of the plastic bed cap. There are no bolts or screws holding the cap on to the bed as prior years had.

I used a 1.5" wide, plastic trim removal tool to get under the edge of the cap and put pressure on the side of each pin to help hem release from the slot that they snap into. Because the clips are molded into the cap, I was extra careful not to break them.

I started at the rear of the truck and popped up the rear corner first and then worked my way to the front one clip at a time. Each side has 10-12 clips so it takes a few minutes if you're being careful. The key for me was to put a little bit of pressure on the side of the clip to help them release. Just pulling up with force will surely break them.

Once the caps are off, you'll need either a t25 or t30 torx bit, can't remember which, to remove the 5 pins and bolt base. The plastic covers on top of the pins just pop off. Don't forget to take off the piece that is in the head wall of the bed that acts as a support for the center of the cover. It's held on with the same size torx but.

As someone else mentioned, you'll also need to remove the rubber plugs that fill the gap between the front corner of the bed side and the corner of the head wall of the bed. The rubber plugs just pop out. If you forget to do this, you'll be reminded when you attempt to install the uncut bedrails from your truck into the other guys - it won't fit. Pay attention to how they are situated as the reinstall could be confusing otherwise.

I showed up with mine completely disassembled so the swap took 15 min at Wal-Mart. Below is a pic of the bed side with the cover off. All those holes have a corresponding clip from the cap. You can see the red trim tool in the pic along with the plastic covers that go on top of each of the striker pins.

Overall, the swap went perfect and you'd never know mine didn't come with a cover or that his did.
