Hello! Just upgraded from an '09 SC to a '20 DCLB. Trying to ease myself into some mods and just wanted to see if anyone has some helpful tips for removing the outside badges/emblems on your own? Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum. Easiest way is fishing line or in a pinch dental floss. Then remove the residual adhesive with bug and tar remover. Don’t use any harsh chemicals.

I pulled mine off with my hands and just washed off the residue... not the easiest way but worked for me

I used plastic razor blades and WD40 for my stickers. I've heard those "pin stripe" eraser wheels work well but I haven't used one.

Just to clarify on above tricks and tips...

Floss/fishing line: used to saw back and forth behind badges that are double sided stickied on such as the "Tacoma" on the door and tailgate badging. Take care when prying pulling badges that you aren't digging the corner of the badge into your paint. After the badge is off you will be left with foam stuck to the paint. I was able to use a hair dryer to warm it up and used my thumb/fingers to rub it off. After the foam is rubbed off you can use as noted above(I used wd-40) to remove the residue. Then clean off the wd-40 with some alcohol. Finish with a wax of your liking.

For Stickers: with a new vehicle you can probably just pick up an edge with your finger nail but may need a plastic razor blade (NOT metal!!!) to get it started and it helps if its warm (hairdryer again) then just peel it off. Use method stated above for removing sticker residue and your de-baged/de-stickered

I used a heat gun (can use a hairdryer) to heat it up, not too much. Then use dental floss or a slow gentle pull once you get it started. Used this technique several times.

I'll jump in on the fishing line suggestion. You can use a hair dryer to soften it up before hand if you need to. I don't necessarily remove the emblems but the dealer sticker is always the first thing to go for me. No free advertising lol

I did this but opposite. Used fishing line to peel off, then used heat gun to get residue off.

I used the hair dryer to warm up the badges and then Glide dental floss (its like teflon tape) in a sawing motion to remove them. I dabbed some goo gone on the residue and let it soak while I remove the next badge. The sawing motion may take some time because the floss will likely break a few times. Then I just rubbed the residue with my fingers and it came off. It's a lot easier when the truck is new. For the stickers, I used my finger nail to peel up a corner and then the hair dryer to warm up the adhesive as I slowly peeled it off.

It is actually really easy, just take your time.

All of my emblems are aftermarket. For the larger emblems, I would recommend heating the surface and using fishing line to separate the emblem from the paint. After that, try to peel as much of the adhesive off with your fingers while keeping the surface hot and wet. Then degrease and or googone it then get a rag and work all the residue off. After that’s done, clean the area so there is no noticeable changes in the paint because dust tends to bring out the old shape of the emblem lol.
My aftermarket door emblem is the TRD pro style emblem except it says TRD Sport.

One other note, the newer the vehicle the easier it is to remove the badges.

Took the dealer stickers off the first day with GooGone. Patience Grasshopper.

If you are a rebel gasoline will do the trick just be sure to have a soapy rag nearby to clean it off ASAP. Also removes tint film.

I used a hair dryer and dental floss. There was a little double sided tape left behind, I just rolled it off using my thumb. Then I used goo-gone to remove the glue residue. Wiped and washed it. After it dried, I applied a coat of wax.
