I would like to remove the steering wheel trim to match the flat black I sprayed on the rings and AC trim. How difficult is it? Any input would be great

Okay wise guy, that’s why I use this forum to get insight from people who have done it before. If you didn’t have any advice beside a smart ass one then don’t waste your time

If you had done what I offered, you would have found quite a few pointers back to posts from this forum.

Hey. Its fairly easy. You will need a torx bit T40 i believe. May i suggest you disconnect the neg battery terminal as you will need to remove and unplug the steering pad/airbag/horn. And the trims are botled down with philipps.

May I suggest using 3m wrap instead of painting it may hold up better

I wanna say its a T30 torx to remove the airbag and then the trim is just held in by Phillips screws and probably some wiring in your case.

I always link people to this thread:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2014-steering-wheel-control-install.362309/

Just follow the instructions to get the plastic trim off and ignore the rest. Don’t undo the center wheel nut, you don’t need to take the wheel off or anything or even remove the steering column plastic.

You don’t need to disengage the airbag either, just be sure to disconnect battery negative terminal and set the airbag on top of the steering wheel when you get it unbolted.
