So my dog has been having a hard time jumping into the back seat and he's a bit too heavy to lift so I was thinking of folding down the back seat to make a lower platform. Not sure it's really much lower, but would be a bit better for a dog bed at least.

Anyway, I drive with the seat back a bit too far for the bottom to fold forward properly. Looks like it can be removed with just a few bolts. I'd remove just the bottom and fold the backs down to make the platform. Has anyone done this? How hard to put back if you need people space? Any pics? Thanks.

very easy. 2 bolts. I removed mine and built a platform for my fridge using the same hinge bolt holes.

Thanks. So follow up for anyone using it as a dog platform. With the backs folded down to make a platform, what, if anything did you do to make it dog friendly? It's hard and slick plus the storage area is open. Dog bed would sort of work. If it's only a couple bolts I can experiment, but just wondering if anyone took this on yet and what lessons learned. Thanks.

buddy of mine did it. at first he just had the dog bed on the plastic backings and it slid around too much, so he bought a rubber material, like the truck bed mats, and cut it to fit the size of the seats, then put the dog bed on it. seems to be working pretty good

I removed the larger side and replaced it with a platform but it would be just as easy to do the whole thing. Here's a couple pics.

Found them on Ebay, they were surplus. Try searching seatback molle panels.
