Remote start on my 2022 Tacoma not working

I have a 2022 Toyota Tacoma, I have 8000 miles on it. Last winter my Remote start on my key fob worked perfect, this week I tried to use it and it doesn't work, took it to the dealership
yesterday and one person said I need to download the app and start it from my phone (with a paid subscription) & another person there said that if it is on the key fob I didn't need a subscription. Who is correct?

 

I've heard a few reports of the 2020+ models not working after the subscription trial ends, even with the key fob. You'll likely need to install your own aftermarket system, such as the one by N2 Designs.

 

I got a 2022 and it still works after the subscription ended.

 

my 21 still works after my subscription ended in 2021.

 

Yes, my 2020 TRD Sport still works with no subscription. I set up the app when I first got the truck. Once my one year free trial was over I canceled. I think your head unit may play a part in this depending on what audio package you got. Canadian TRD Off Roads & Sports come with the premium audio. The lower trim levels do not. Maybe this has an impact?

What trim level do you have?

 

I have a 22 and mine works without a subscription.
Make sure you are holding down the third press long enough.
Did you try with your other fob?

 

I downloaded the App in September after a year and declined the subscription because (I didn't want to pay for that when my remote start always worked from my FOB) and why would that stop my key fob from working. I am going back to the Dealer tomorrow (they said my DCM is still in shipping mode) I also don't need(want) all of the Toyota company keeping an eye on me(I drive aproximately 60 miles a month) Thanks for your feedback, I think maybe they just want a subscription yearly. IDK - Service Techs get paid for what they sell

I went back to the dealership and they hooked it back up to their computer to update the computer and now it works PERFECT without a subscription-Thanks for all your input.

Just happened to me. Fob remote start was working on my 22 just fine without the app till today. I reloaded the entune app (which I deleted for its tracking, local dealer bs ect) and now the key fob remote works perfectly again. Hmm wonder if it's just their way on keeping tabs on us.

 

I have a 22 Tacoma OR and my remote start doesnt work anymore. I know it did last winter. At that time, I've had my truck for over a year.. So i dk maybe replace the battery on the key FOB? never downloaded the toyota app despite the salesguy calling for weeks harassing me to download it or threatening that my truck wouldn't work... HAHA

 

Good gawd before it's over with these manufacturers will require you pay for a subscription just
to open the door, extra fee to crank it, additional fee to use the A/C, additional fee for heat, additional
fee for windshield wipers. Need to turn on the lights for night driving, that'll be another $5.00 per month.

Oh, and when you crank it up, you'll have to sit through a commercial on the screen before you can drive it,
unless you pay another $5.00 a month to skip it.

I've heard in other threads that the premium tech package trucks (or whichever packages come with the premium/jbl audio) have fob remote start longer than trucks without. Can anyone corroborate that?
My 2020 has the package and the fob still works.

 

2022 TRD Off Road. Changed the battery on the FOB and the remote start stopped working. TIA.
