Does the 2024 Tacoma come with remote start? or only when chips are available?
And if so, how does that work on a manual transmission?
    Thx!

Is there even a manual transmission car in history that has remote start from factory?

Risk of the engine being in gear has caused many suppliers and manufacturers to outright refuse to have it enabled.

We have one incident a year, cars driving on their own. Into cars, over ditches etc. All shade tree installers, all manuals.

it means it's not available on a manual. dumb way to advertise it. but... not available. and quite frankly, remote start is dumb even on an auto

Not dumb when you live in the arctic like me and want to pre-heat the cabin for your kids. Definitely a solid use application for remote start.

Same with AC in the summer. Just because someone does not need/want the feature, doesn't make it dumb.

Yeah - plenty of people who think the world revolves around them and them only. I personally don't need a forklift but I don't think they are stupid just because I don't need one.

I added the N2 designs remote start to my MT Tacoma; on cold mornings it is definitely worth it.

Love the remote start. Used it all winter to warm up the truck while I’m still inside making coffee. I also use it in the summer when it’s been sitting in an airport parking lot for a few days. Start it up about the time I’m deplaning and it’s ice cold by the time I get to it. I can’t imagine why someone would be bothered by it.

Why do you think remote start is dumb?

Not really. It perfectly illustrates that I don't deem anything I don't need or use dumb.

Pretty soon we will have trucks start themselves and drive themselves…who needs humans?

I live in a cold climate and my 2nd gen doesn’t have remote start. Just walk out and fire it up old school if you want to warm it up…takes 30 seconds

It means you better have the transmission in neutral before you hit that start button

FYI, remote start on the 4th gen Tacoma MT is available via Fortin EVO-ONE. I'm in the process of getting quoted install now
