Remote Connect?

Does the 2021 Tacoma have remote connect capabilities? You know, ability to connect with the app and remote start your vehicle. Also works with Apple Watch.

I have tried doing this. Everywhere I look it says yes. But dealership tells me my vehicle doesn’t have this capability. It is a brand new 2021 TRD Offroad.

Also as an aside, remote start unavailable from the key.

In trying to authorize. I’m told to go to Apps>Communications>Authorization
But there is no icon labeled ‘Communications’. Only two icons: Notifications and WiFi

 

If you do not actually have the remote start option, the app will not work either.

 

I picked up a 2021 TRD Off Road yesterday, and I ran into the same problem you are having. Apparently there was an issue with the Toyota Remote Connect servers. I got it working this morning by pushing the SOS button in the truck and talking to a representative that was able to activate it for me. Remote start and remote lock/unlock are working great now.

 

Do this!

If that doesn't work call the 800 Toyota support number and talk to someone. They should be able to get it working for you. I did all this a couple months ago.

 

Just call Toyota. They’ll get you squared away. After all, they want all that data to sell to insurance companies and to refuse warranty claims because you drove the vehicle too fast.

 

Remote Connect comes standard on at least the 2021 version of the TRD Off Road. To get it activated, I just called the Toyota 1800 number, but I believe a lot of people got it activated by pushing the SOS button.

 

My salesman activated mine before I drove off the lot.

 

On my 2021 sticker, it has "Safety & Remote Connect w/1-Year trial"

So you can have Remote Connect standard as long as you have a 2021 TRD Off Road, you don’t need to have the optional JBL stereo upgrade?

 

Came with my 2021 TRD Off Road. I have the basic radio. I believe it comes on other Tacoma models as well with the 2021’s

 

Dont forget to pay up at the end if you want to continue having access to the remote start or it will no longer function.
