Got mine and works as it should, though I find the range isn't as good as the OEM fob.

Are you pointing key blade towards car? Press and hold button until car reacts.

Holding the key forward helped, but still doesn't seem to be as strong. Could it be an old battery? Are they easily replaceable in this key?

No, All batteries are brand new. Nothing will ever beat the OEM in distance as the circuit board which is used as an antenna is bigger.

I don't know what more distance people want..

It seems I just wasn't use to it and pushing the button hard enough, it's OK now. What is the sequence to unlock the passenger door though? I just to just give two quick succesive pushes but now it seems I have to push it a few times and it beeps more?

Apologies if this has been addressed but is flip key still available? Cash on hand for the 056 key.

How can you tell if your truck has the glass sensor?

Just stumbled upon this thread. Two purchased. Will be happy to put my fob in the drawer. I don't like how skinny the OEM key is. The plastic you hold seems to slightly twist when turning. Want beef!

Shame about the flip key. Woulda been my first choice.

About 5 posts up answers your question.

No flip key distributors near me so I opted for the all-in-one key that was/is being sold via ebay.

You guys may like the "cool" factor of these keys, but having been a valet driver, I see the condition of used versions of these. It's not uncommon for the spring to break, or the buttons start to sink in (most common problem). The aftermarket ones might not have this issue.

These are essentially VW flip keys. My biggest gripe with this key style is that the key is rotated 90 degrees from its normal orientation of how you would hold it. I can't tell you the number of times I have tried to jam a VW key into an ignition only to realize that it's orientation is 90 degrees off. Pretty annoying, and may take a daily user a while to get used to, and even then it will probably always feel awkward. My two cents.

My OEM key fob is beat and I only have one key to the truck (bought it used), so I purchased the all in one key as a replacement and a second for a spare. For me, it's an upgrade any way I look at it.

In regards to the flip key, my brother in law drives a VW and I actually borrowed his car for about a month or so. I like that the key and remote are all in one unit (on both of these keys offered). Just that the flip key "looks" better IMO than the all in one that I ended up with.

Also, I never had any issues with getting the key into the ignition. I'm probably not in as much of a hurry as you would be when you used to valet (that may make a difference).

So I just programmed mine but on the steps where you hold the lock and unlock buttons and then push and hold unlock, the locks cycled twice (l, u, l, u). I started reading this thread and then played with the remote, and it works. So I dunno why it cycled so much but seems to work just fine. Wish the range was a little better though, I pretty much have to stand right by my truck for it to work.

Thanks for the extra info. Mine doesn't come in till next week. I'll report back once I have it programmed.

Sucks about having to stand right by your truck...I already have to do that with my current key fob. Was hoping this new one would help a little. Do the buttons work good though? I currently have to press mine in a few times before it actually locks/unlocks.
