    Toasted is totally different.

I had to use orange juice on cereal instead of milk when overseas. The milk was canned and absolutely horrid. Then all of the weevils would float to the top. Got tired of scooping them out eventually...

That's right up there with my sister who was told she was getting a spanking..ran upstairs and stuffed a hardcover Dr Seuss book down her back. My dad caught her after and smacked her butt once, then screamed in pain.

Anybody remember the rear seats in Ford Station wagons. Pops had to pull over and get out if he wanted to smack us.

Yes. High school friend had one. I think they were they only 10 passenger wagons made. He called it the "War Wagon". I think it got 9 mpg on the highway (460 4v). They couldn't make it from Long Island to Saratoga on one tank. They HAD to stop.

My buddy down the street had parents that covered all their furniture and car seats with heavy plastic. I got in his old man's back seat one time with mud on my shoes. I thought he was gonna kill me.

Yeah I remember sitting on those plastic seat covers wearing short pants, and having them stick to my legs with a really clammy disgusting feel. They made a little greenhouse effect on the fabric and caused the seats to be very hot when you’re parked in the sun.

We never owned a Viewmaster. But lots of my friends had them.

I had one toy that I have never seen since 1963, and that was a model airplane which was a gas propelled glider.

It had yellow coated balsa wings printed with airplane logos and it had a thin blue polystyrene plastic body that they slid into.

That body was kind of fat, and inside it contained a rubber balloon with a nozzle at the tail section.

It came with a can of compressed air and you filled it up like a butane lighter and then just let the thing go, so it was jet propelled.

There was no control on how much pressure you could put into the balloon. There was no valve to control the pressure coming out.

Anyhow, It flew pretty cool, the couple times that I flew it; but I tried to put too much air in it at one time and exploded the thing.

Remember Fizzies? I liked the root beer ones. PDQ was a granular powder that you put in milk. I remember chocolate, strawberry and egg nog flavor. Loved the egg nog flavor

Yeah, those plastic seats got so hot in the sun, they would brown and crack after a time

The only time I ever had PDQ was when we went back east to visit our relatives in 1965. I don’t remember the eggnog flavor but we had strawberry and chocolate.

We saw Fizzies on TV but I don’t think my mom bought them more than once because we didn’t like them. We were Kool-Aid kids. Extra sugar . . .

Sometimes we got Ovaltine, but more often Hershey’s. Powdered or liquid, but really only rarely. Strawberry flavored Nestley’s Quick was a favorite. It probably had more sugar.
