I'm a bit confused...as usual. What's the difference between the EFI Relay & the EFI Fuse? Is there a difference or are all the different things I have read just a matter of choice of words? I have seen posts referring to the EFI Fuse & others refer to the EFI Relay. Sure would appreciate some education. I also would wonder the EFI in the box in my '97 2RX-FE 4cyl engine compartment...is that a fuse or relay? I always thought of it as a fuse. If that's the case then where's the relay if there is one? Any suggestions at this point I'm very grateful for cause I just confused anyone reading this is say! Sorry...thanks in advance for ANY help.

A fuse is a circuit protection device draw more current the fuse opens.

A relay can be a electrical Mechanical Device meaning a electro magnet pulls mechanical contacts closed this is the simple version

Relays can also be solid state and all electronic

    Hope this helps

The fuse and relay are 2 separate components although they are located in the same fuse box, they should be labeled on the fuse box cover.

Thanks for the info gents. That clears up a lot!! I'm going outside to check the EFI fuse & relay as well as the Circuit Opening relay & the Cam Positioning sensor. Truck starts & runs great first starts of the day but after the engine's warm it refuses to start till it cools again. I'm not hearing the hum of the electric fuel pump when I turn on the key so the above components are where I'm starting. Anyone have suggestions as to what else this first time major detective job diy gal can try? Ive not done any big fixes on my own before now. Always just general maintenance, i.e. oil/filter chg, brakes, plugs etc. Oh yeah...I got a P0116 code last month & replaced the Temp Sender sensor but I noticed that it's been broken. I think the jackass I let put a fuel filter in must be the culprit! I'm gonna replace it again soon as the part is delivered. Would or could that be most of this warm start issue? Thank you in advance for any replies.

Since It starts fine after sitting but once you drive it it cranks but will not start.By cool you mean long enough to touch the radiator without burning

I really lean towards leaky injectors getting the spark plugs wet enough it will not start.

How long have the spark plugs been in??

The fuel pumps on Tacomas do not run unless the motor is spinning by either the starter or running.

If you have a coolant temp sensor problem that could definitely cause a hard or no start because the PCM uses engine temperature to determine how much initial fuel to give it.
