I am wanting to replace my rear crossmember that secures the spare tire with heavy duty tubing. I know welding on the tubing would be the go to answer but does anyone make a bolt on reinforced x-crossmember for the 2nd gen Tacoma?

Pic as an example (not my truck)

@ARCHIVE Archive Garage makes one that is straight across or a curved one for more ground clearance but it bolts up to the Archive Garage Hammer Hangers. This stiffens your entire rear end and beefs up your stock hangers. If this is a picture of yours, then it will not work due to the hangers in this picture being welded on and custom. If this is not your rig, just order the Hammer hangers, and crossbar and you are good to go.

The Tacoma X-Runner rear crossmember bolts in and is supposed to help out. It's not as beefy as what's posted above though.

I guess I should have clarified that the photo was an example. I am more so looking to replace the stock x-crossmember in general. The archivegarage hammer hangers and crossbar is a great addition, though.

What is your motivation for replacing the rear crossmember? People usually do that when going LT or links in the rear so they're already doing abunch of custom fab and burn in the crossmember while they're at it. This seems overkill for a more stock vehicle. The frame in your example pic is also fully boxed in.

Also FYI the stock crossmember is riveted not bolted in.

I'm slowly building the truck to what I want it to be. And you are correct the bottom does have the rivets however, the top portion of the cross member is bolted in.

I am just looking at options to prevent bed flex. I am not doing any hard offroading that probably requires it but I am no longer utilizing the spare tire mount the cross member so I was thinking about beefing it up back there by adding a square tubing x-cross member. Instead of welding it on I would like to have it bolted on if possible so I don't have to remove the bed to weld.

It really seems like the easiest option are the Archive HH + crosstube or similar product from BAMF and others. Why are you resistant to this approach?

to answer your original question a bolt on product does not exist. Whatever you get will have to be custom fabricated.

I would have came but I was out of town that weekend. I most certainly would have been there though. We can always what until the next time either you or I add, take off, or cut something up on our trucks lol.

I got my frame plates from Big Country Customs and DOM from ruffstuff. However, I do not see the rear frame plate kit on BCC's website anymore.

I know DMZ Fab has a frame plate kit.
