About to pull the trigger on a set of General Grabber ATX…talked with a guy at Discount tire and he recommended going Regular ply because the 10 ply in that tire has difficulty balancing on the lighter trucks.

I have 10 ply (E rated) Hancooks right now and like them they’ve treated me well but super noisy as they wear out. But looking for real world experience or further recommendations.

If you're debating between the two, you probably don't need E load.

I had e load and C load in the KO2 and to be honest...I don't notice any real difference.

If you don’t need 10 ply, I wouldn’t get them.
The extra weight and ride is enough for me to not want them.

    If I needed them, maybe.
But I don’t typically drive under those circumstances which might need 10 ply.

I’m also wondering if it’s worth the extra $250 difference from regular to E rated? Another thing to take into account.

So would you go with E rated or C again?

Depends on hat you're doing with your truck and to your truck.

If you plan on offroading rough and rocky trails frequently and or are loading the truck all the way down with armour and gear then get then it may be worth getting the 10ply E's.

If you plan on offroading AND loading the truck down DEFINITELY get the 10 plys E's.

If you just want to lift your truck a tad and go camping down some fire roads once in a while then nah stick with the C loads.

But be honest with yourself or be willing to eat the MPG.

Thanks for the info. Not really going to load it down crazy heavy. I have E rated on now. Can for sure tell the difference with MPG. I like the ride when I’m off road and the extra protection. It’s saved me on a few time when I’ve had nails in them and not gotten a flat. But I won’t be doing severe off roading or rock crawling. Mainly off-roading for hunting and camping.

I would go with C just because it was 5lbs lighter per tire.

OP, if you want Grabber ATx tires the only C Load Rated tire General offers for 16" or 17" wheel size is the LT265/70r17 (31.6" x 10.7" @ 44.9#) with BSW. Otherwise it's E Load Rated or SL.

C rated is preferable but there aren’t too many options. I just ordered some E rated toyo AT IIIs. I like E rated for hauling firewood, more aggressive tread pattern and tread depth vs SL tires, and not blowing out a side wall.

Exactly. We have quite a few "princesses and the pea" on thia forum when it comes to tires. I got E rated KO2s a couple months ago and the ONLY thing i noticed, was slightly less mpg from a larger tire. Thats it.
