Sibi did a group buy here, once, I can remember?
I've seen in the area of 3k. There's so much he can do, the price varies. Polished gears, bushing upgrades, the tune(optional)....

If you’re in SD I would hit up @Speed Freek. He does great work, has good prices. He’s hooked up a lot of members here

That’s who I originally contacted to do the E locker installation. Unfortunately, he was too far. Riverside ain’t close either, I was hoping for the shop in Burbank that was recommended, but when I called them, the price was over the top by a country mile!

Too Far? Try living in Bakersfield! Sure, they're places here that can do it, but for way more money! I had the local 4wp do my last Tacoma. They had the damn truck for over 2 weeks. They claimed they ordered a few wrong parts and had to wait to get the right ones in. It was a horrible experience. I was happy to drive the 190 miles to Riverside and get a room for the night. We're a big enough city to have everything we need, but we're a captive audience with little competition, so prices reflect it.

I've drove 8 hours one way to get a job done right, vs closer and done poorly

It looks like you love L.A. traffic!!!! Bakersfield ain’t shit. I’ve gone as far as West Point to go compete, turn around and burn it to Topanga…in a day. I like what I saw in Premier. Done deal bud and has been paying off nicely.

The Freek will get some coin from me no doubt someday.

I cheated and took the scenic route through the desert. Didn't hit any traffic.

    just got quoted $7k

in my journey to find out what to do to run 35's, I've heard it all
    -"go ARB"
    -"go helical torsen(s)"
    -"go eLocker"
    -"it must be 4.56"
    -"no it should be 4.88"
    -"no it should be 5.29"

Yes sir! I've ran 2 group buys for Sibi now and we've filled spots for them fairly quickly. We may do another one early 2024!

Sibi in Santa Ana did mine 2 weeks ago. Love it - Don’t have a Tacoma anymore but had Premier set up my Tacoma on 5.29s.

    Would definitely recommend Sibi.

Found a reputable source to bench regear $375 a diff.
Likely going to either do that or DIY.
Given used diffs cost ~$100 I see no reason not to. The "special" part is setting up gears, not putting a truck on a lift and taking a third member out.

No reason to drive far. It's mechanical car work, not 'Lord Of The Ring and Pinions: The Two Axles'

Am a mechanic but never set up a diff before.
It's not common in dealers and cost-prohibitive. Individual parts not always sold. Blown diff means replace with whole new unit, known good working used, possibly turn in old core.

There's a lot of rhetoric on the internet of "nooo it requires magic!"
many say the same thing for oil changes.

Perhaps it is not magic. Perhaps it's following instructions, taking your time, and having the right tools.
DIY means no rush. The specs are the specs. Only thing subject to eye interpretation is paint pattern. Which that: there are guides for, info online
and even the potential to set it up to your satisfaction then show to a gear shop pay for their expertise/opinion on if they also feel the pattern looks good.

Random stuff. Oh! and converted to non ADD 4x4.
Always do a check of your local shops. Gears been on vehicles for over a century. Don’t get influenced by the influencers. Ie. Theres a local shop here in Ventura called Montalvo’s, they actually work some stuff for a couple of ultra4 cars and can get your FR and RR diffs to include locker work for way less that the famous shops and no ridiculous lead times. Again, there’s more out there. Cheers!

Edit: again, nothing wrong with the shops mentioned already, just saying there is more options.
