We're replacing our appliances one at a time, as they're around 20 years old and failing. Just put in a Bosch dishwasher and it's awesome. Next will be the refrigerator.

Initially we didn't want the water/ice dispenser- trying to keep it simple and avoid things that break. But I drink a lot of water (kidney stones), and refilling the water jug w/filter we keep in the refer is a pain. Now I'm thinking I want the dispenser.

If you have/had them, what's your experience with their reliability?

20 years and the water dispenser still works. The ice maker is usually where you have issues if they arise

Never had an issue with a water dispenser, so long as you change the filters appropriately nothing will build up to stick the valve closed, ice makers can be temperamental but I have uninstalled the ice maker in my fridge, a few trays are enough for me and take up considerably less space. If I need lots of ice for something I just buy a bag.

Samsung fridge owner so take the following with a grain of salt as Samsung truly blows with making in home appliances.... Should be a class action for their fridges.....

Water works great...upper ice maker leaked into the meat and cheese drawer after defrosting failed and caused the whole unit to freeze over. It requires a back panel removal and manual defrost... After a few times calling the repair guy with it under warranty I learned the process and I did it a half dozen times before I said fuck it and turned off the upper Ice maker.... Never again with a Samsung.

Not to mention their quirky sizing and "modular" layout meaning nothing ever fits right, and WHY THE EVER LIVING FUCK DOES A FRIDGE NEED TO CONNECT TO THE INTERNET.

I have a scratch and dent fridge with water. Only cosmetic on the dents. The water dispenser never had great pressure from the start. I even replaced the solenoid and no difference. I also pulled the filter since my house has an RO feed from the water system.
that’s my only complaint with it but as others say, the ice maker goes out when it only has 1 job. I’ve replaced it once and it makes ice once a month when it wants now.

I have a Amana, it has worked well with no issues. We have had it for about 7 years or so.

Could always install a whole house filter or just a filter under the sink and buy a dumb fridge.

I'm quite pleased with my LG fridge. Avoid Samsung at all costs.

I've heard the same thing, mostly about their washers and dryers. My other half likes the small door within the larger door (has tendinitis so the larger doors can be difficult), which I believe only Samsung and LG offer. I said no-way on the Samsung and I need to look into LG for reliability.

RIGHT!? I really don't get this Internet of Things. While looking at dishwashers, stoves and vent hoods, they all have internet capable versions. Some with Alexa built in. Can you imagine, an internet connected vent hood? WTF.
