I just bought the red HPS Silicone hose kit for my 2020 Taco. Wondering if anyone here has installed this? These kits often don't come with diagrams showing where hoses go so it becomes like figuring out a puzzle. Also, if someone here has replaced the full hose kit, how much coolant is lost in the process? Is there a way to minimize the coolant loss and are there any installation tips?

Pics of the hoses installed would be great! Any color is fine. Thanks!

Just match the hoses up to the factory ones to figure out where they go...gonna need to pressure bleed the system to get all the air out as well.

    You're a better communicator than I am!
I typed several this morning, but never hit the button to submit,,, they sounded too dickish. I'm guessing most are preformed or nearly exact length.

You can’t mess up the radiator hoses they are identical or the heater hose it. If it’s anything else it’s cut to length for any small hoses but not rocket science.

    Instructions shouldn't be required.

Do a drain and fill on the coolant. If you drain into a clean container there is no reason it cant go back in when you are done. You might need a bit of top up.

Just curious why you would use a silicone hose that is porous and is not meant for daily driving?

There's a very good chance your engine will fail due to heat damage before the EPDM hoses do

Anytime I think of silicone hoses I think of the patrol cars and how they use that as a feature of the police package lol

Thanks for all the feedback. I was excited to have this in my Taco but it looks like there might be more reasons not to do it given that our OEM hoses might do the job better. I like the red but don't want to be worrying about the coolant level due to evaporation over time. Thanks for adding the articles, erowner.

Don’t be afraid. I’ve used Samco silicone hoses before and it’s not a huge deal. You won’t be needing to fill your reservoir on a weekly basis or anything close to that. I check under-the-hood fluid levels regularly anyway and i’d usually only top up the coolant during oil changes.
That said, i’d never replace my perfectly good rubber coolant hoses with silicone just for looks. But I wouldn’t be afraid to to use silicone on a street car/truck/bike if the rubber ones needed replacing.

Never had a problem with Samco silicone radiator hoses, including the mythical massive loss of coolant. Cheap Chinesium ripoffs? Who knows how they hold up.

I wouldn't replace OEM with silicone just for appearances, and can't remember the last time I replaced a coolant hose on a car or truck. The 1998 Mazda 626 I bought new and just gave to my nephew a couple of years ago still had the originals. So....

But Samco hoses on high perf motorcycles is very common. They stand up to heat cycling much better than rubber hoses. I would venture a guess that most cyclists that switch to Samco silicone hoses do for the same reason I did. The upper radiator hose on my 4 valve Ducati bulged and showed signs that it could fail, never a good thing especially on a bike. I bought the entire Samco set (8 or 9 hoses IIRC) for about the cost of 2 OEM hoses. Plus knowing they would probably never need replaced. That was 11 years ago. Still look like new, and I don't have to add coolant.

I went back and forth and wasn’t planning but a bunch of us in the S/C groups have recently swapped over when HPS made a S/C fitted setup. It’s going to take a lot to lose all your fluid but kiwis think have thought much of it wasn’t for the extra goodies installed

I had silicone boost hoses on my old diesel. They do weep some. Mine were always damp with oil vapors from the crank case vent.

I also would not be for replacing those new rubber hoses. They would possibly last 150,000 miles or more.
