I'm replacing the factory OEM shocks and struts and I'm looking for a slight upgrade in quality and durability without spending a fortune.
Not going to be lifting or anything and this truck does more regular driving than anything else with some very occasional hauling and towing but only occasional.

The most I may eventually do on an occasional basis is pull a small boat trailer or pop up camper.

Would like to get the best quality I can while keeping the parts cost under 350.

    Any recommendations?

I have found a complete set by Unity and also by KYB that both fit the affordable category. I know a little about KYB and almost nothing about Unity products. Other than those two there are still a lot more options to choose from so I was hoping to possibly pick the brain of a few of you who've already been there done that and found something you like for the same type of use that I'll be doing.

Bilstien 4600 is designed for exactly what you describe.

Any monotube shock is all you need, a slight upgrade from factory.

KYB Gas-a-Just is another good upgrade/alternative for stock.

Both are located on RockAuto under "upgraded handling"

The Bilstein is the best one I've seen reviewed so far.
Thanks much for the info !

I have a set of 4600s coming for my fronts, I have new basic KYB's on my rear and regret not upgrading them up a step.

How many miles do you have on your truck OP? I just hit 100,000 miles and wondering if I should swap my shocks out.

TRD yellow shocks are usually riding pretty rough at that point. I usually suggest them every 10 years. They don't leak so no one ever changes them, makes a big difference.

I replaced my oem shocks with Bilstein 4600’s. They are great on and off road. Much more heavy duty than original equipment.

If your shocks are factory original then they should have been replaced 50,000 miles ago. They are shot and dangerous to drive with worn out shocks. Get them replaced

Just find a 3rd gen suspension. If you find a trd sport or trd offroad, its a great upgrade and usualy they doesnt cost too much. I do that for my 2008 trd : 2021 complete suspension, coil/shock/leaf spring and its day and night

I have 165,000 on mine but most have been pretty easy riding with no hauling or towing and they only recently started showing signs of needing replacement.
This is my second set with the first ones being replaced at 90,000.
75000 later after having put about the last twenty thousand on them driving on country roads I'm starting to feel a slight wear and More bounce than I should be. It's not much at all but enough to notice and I'm going to be driving on these roads for probably the next fifty thousand miles so I'm looking for something a little tougher that will perform a little better without killing the budget.

I paid 400$ CAD. The kit had a 2inch suspension lift that i give to a friend. You need to take a look LCA cam bolt. If they are seized, you need to add 2 LCA and cam bolt to the bills ( maybe 400$ more)
