You're absolutely right. With all that typing I never did say... My apologies.

Whatever is cheapest or on sale at the time, because nowadays they all are damn good. As long as you change the oil regularly and put on a new filter, you can't go wrong.

Here's what I used last time.

WHY? Cause smart fellows like you don't share the love! Now that you did....my local Meijer has 5 quart jugs for $23......minus the $12 rebate....that's $11(!!!) for almost a full oil change! Going to get me some tomorrow!
    THANKS FOR THE TIP!

Just watched i series on youtube that was comparing many different brands of synthetic oil, he got them all analyzed and ran some tests on them, and the ones who ended up winning he ran even more tests on them. I run mobile 1 and was surprised by the test, it did not even come out on top five. Top 2 were amsoil and pennzoil and pennzoil took it over the amsoil. Will be buying pennzoil from now on as its really reasonnably priced and performs exceptionally well.

Of course all of them are good enough, but when tested(by a real person not the oil companys) some come out on top. Stop saying it doesnt matter if your paying then yes it does. It is possible to scientifically determine wich oil is best through tests and some oil analysis.

It wont matter one bit. Have you ever heard of a vehicle breaking down because they used the wrong brand of oil? Nope it has never happened

I tell you what go buy walmart super tech oil and run it in your vehicle for a year and see if your vehicle breaks down. Put it to the test.

I didnt say it will break down lol, just the walmart supertech is 39.99 for a 5l here in quebec, and i can find the pennzoil 5l jug for the same price on sale, so i would rather pay that price for oil i know for sure is better thats all im saying

I'm just saying buying the cheapest oil will suffice, brand doesn't matter

Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
I ran Mobil 1 for 115k, but I just switched to Amazon's synthetic oil because it was cheaper. So far, so good.

I noticed last week that Mobil 1 has a 5W30 specifically for trucks and SUVs now. Allegedly has more of an additive for removing deposits.

I personally use Mobil 1 full synthetic 5W30, and do so for absolutely no scientific reason whatsoever. I just really like the way the packaging looks. I’m neither a chemist nor a mechanical engineer so it’s a tall order for me to have a useful opinion on what the best oil is.

Bob is the oil guy if you want to get in the weeds.

Otherwise pic a quality 5w-30 oil and filter of your choice and change per the manual and you will likely never have an issue.

Didn't know Amazon had an oil. I see it now, $19 for a jug. Seems cheaper than the $13 Mobil 1.

Didn't know there was a truck/SUV now or if it's better. I think engineers control how much additive is put in. I've heard people prefer certain oils for a cleaning effect they believe they have.
Mobil 1 seems to have a reputation for leaving a golden yellow varnish coating on metal parts, visible on certain cars through the oil cap or while changing valve covers. Whereas stuff like Shell Rotella 5w40 is said to have a slow gentle cleaning effect over time, but that weight is used more for German cars than Japanese, and they recently changed their formula I believe FWIW.

Am not sure if a truck/SUV needs more additive or for what reason. Only chose the M1 due to the cheapness and approximate matching of 5w30 independent of other marketing terms

Mobil 1 and buy it at Walmart for the best deal as others have mentioned! I used Pennzoil and didn't really care for it tbh, but it's probably all the same for all I know..

I go Mobil 1 synthetic from Costco. I usually use 5W30, but I recently used 0W20 and my mileage skyrocketed. Probably will go back to 5W30 after this interval because I'm paranoid about it burning off faster than the 5W30 (and owned a oil burning Subaru).
