I need a locking hitch pin that fits my truck. Bought one at Harbor Freight that was supposed to be 5 5/8" long but it's not (1.5" of it goes into the locking mechanism). It's not long enough. I do realize now that I have a class III hitch and this is only for I and II.

Any recommendations for locking hitch pins. I need one by the first week of June so I need to order something soon.

Any Uhaul store will have hitch pins. Hell, I got one at Walmart!

My Reese unit from Tractor Supply has been unimpressive. 2 months parked outside and it's already got a lot of rust. Will probably need replacement in a couple months.

Additional request for this thread: Recommend high-quality, weather resistant pins. Some of us don't stay in a garage.

Good to know, I've got a Reese that I bought at Walmart but I keep mine in the case with the hitch and ball most of the time.

Mine stays in the receiver, because my license plate is hitch mounted:

That is the exact one I have. No rust and long enough to fit our receiver because ours is designed slightly bigger than the common one on Chevy's.

I got mine at West Marine for $25 or $35. Mine stays in also.

The RED fades in the sun quick. So don't panic, it is normal.

I use a Master Lock pin which is great, no problems for over 10 years.

Highly recommend weather resistant locks, the others seem to rust within months.

Get a stainless steel version and you should be fine. I believe mine is a master too, going on ten years and no problems. I little lube for the lock at times and your good to go.

And if you have the stock tow package the hitch is a Class IV not a Class III so that maybe why you can't find a pin that will fit. Start looking under class IV and you should find it. Etrailer is a good place to look as well.

I have a buyers locking hitch pin that I'm not real happy with. Spray painted it black but it has still rusted, and after the winter it was completely seized up. Used ALOT of wd40 and a hammer and eventually it loosened up enough to remove it and soak it with more wd40

Master lock! Keep it well lubed inside and out if you leave exposed.
