i am planning a road trip for Turkey day. we want to drive so we can bring Hank, our dog.

we stop along the way to play frisbee, etc..and he can get pretty dirty. i pretty much kept my 2006 Tacoma as a "hank-mobile" but fully expect to drive the new truck for the road trip. 2006 is getting long in the tooth, and while reliable still...there is that element of..what if?.

Hank has never graced my new truck. he sheds like way more than he should, and he is a hot mess in general. i think a rear seat hammock is the key.

which one? any real world reviews? prices seem all over the place. $40 to $200.

i have the double cab and plan to fold the rear up, and use the hammock.

Here is a thread with more discussion on hammocks.

My Golden Retriever sheds quite a bit. I rarely vacuum my truck. Just open all windows on a dry day and hit the freeway. When I do this, I notice people general are not tailgating me for some reason.

I bought an expensive one from Orvis and one from Costco. The one from Costco is the better one n my opinion.

I vote for the $40 Chicom cheapo. I got one off of Amazon several years ago and it still looks and works great.

Don’t be fooled by some of the companies selling the seat extenders at a premium (apetsplanet). It’s just a private labeled one that is same as the Amazon ones. I do like the hard bottom more than the hammock style though.

I have a Ruff Wear thing and while it’s probably overpriced for what it is, I’ve been happy with how waterproof it is, how it covers the sides of the seat, and how well it stays in place with the attachments that tuck into the cushions. It does not have a hard bottom, though.

I did a lot of research before I purchased one and ended up with 4Knines bed hammock, they are on Amazon, Midwest family owned, they have one for the DC Tacoma that fits perfect, get the taco rear door guards too, helps if ya have a drooler. I called them before I ordered, and a human actually answered, spoke English too.
I leave ours in, and find the rear floor space nice for collapsible coolers and such. They make front seat covers as well, use your electric leave blower on the truck if they shed, open all hatches and let it rip, gets 80-90% of my aussholes hair out of the vehicle.
Don’t forget the childproof seat belt latch covers, if your dog is so inclined..

Thanks, measured the back seat against the regular size measurements from Amazon and they’re dang near an exact match. Should be perfect.
