I want to purchase some jack stands and a floor jack (hydraulic) and need a recommendation. I want to make sure they extend enough now (stock height 2020 Off Road) and if I lift it (no more than a few inches). I like the ratchet jack stands I've seen at Harbor Freight. Any recommendations appreciated.

Harbor Freight jack stands have a terrible track record. Search online about it, don’t take my word.

Buy either 6 or 12 ton jack stands to get the needed height. Some have a safety pin now to stop them from collapsing, not a bad feature in my opinion. Certainly there are some fancy ones out there but do you really need them? Answer is depends how much wrenching you do and if you got the $$$$$.

Buy a 3 or 4 ton floor jack also to get needed height. If you need more lift than that jack will give you can use blocks of wood or maybe a DIY extension using that ProEagle pad extender dealie-o.

I personally have Duralast 6 ton jack stands because I needed them quickly one weekend. They work fine, nothing special. I have an old Craftsman 3 ton floor jack with a hockey puck on the pad, has worked fine for the past decade on all my vehicles.

The issue with HF jack stands was limited to three specific product numbers all produced by a specific supplier in China. It's not fair to translate that into a bad rep for all of their jack stands. Plus, good on them for owning the whole debacle and giving refunds. I've been using Harbor Freight jacks and jack stands for almost 15yrs and have been very happy. The new, Daytona brand, stuff is really quite nice and much better than the prices would indicate.

3 ton might be too short, but you can put some wood under them. I have 6 ton stands from northern tool that I got on sale.

Lift doesn’t matter unless it increased your down travel, e.g. you installed longer shocks.

Those are SUPER nice. A friend of mine had some and I really liked them. More of a pain to adjust than a regular jack stand but I love the flat top rubber cushion they have available.

I agree to that haha, they can be a pain, I went down a rabbit hole with jack stands last year, always used werner everything, they sold out, shops I worked in always used napa brand, OTC had base weld problems etc. Ill have to check out daytonas, I need another set.

Is the best place to position them for the rear under the side beams closest to the bed?
