like the title says...looking to buy an awd crossover or suv to commute in, carry stuff/ppl when needed.

good gas mileage is a must...will drive hwy for 2 hrs (100+ miles) 4 to 6 days a week.

awd is a must...need to get to work rain or snow. and for safety.

currently looking at a scooby cross trek. it seems to tick all the boxes. if anyone owns/owned one id love to hear your opinion.

rav4 is also on the radar but price for awd is quite a bit higher than the scooby.

any other brands/models i should check out?

    thanks in advance

Outback. I’ve had both the 4 banger and the 3.6R. Both were amazing, big trunk. New ones look incredibly sexy. Love my truck but I may have to cheat..... ;).

Mazda cx3 comes to mind. Friend had the turbo model, pretty fun, good fuel economy, good storage and awd.

thanks for the suggestion...ill check them out.

the cross trek is $23k new for base model. i may go up to $30k depending on features/value.

never owned an audi but ive had a bmw. not sure about reliability, but i hear a lot of euro cars are great for about 50-60k miles then they go to pot.

im looking for 'toyota reliability' in this next vehicle. my current dd has over 230k miles and incidentally is an 05 toyota lol.

the bmw z4 i had was the worst car ive ever owned unfortunately. it was fun to drive...when it wasn't at the dealership.

We stuck with Toyota and went with the Rav4 Adventure addition. Gets descent gas milage (averaging 25 mpg), handles amazingly in the snow and gets me to the mountain twice a week for skiing. Its actually quick and nimble too and its 8 speed transmission is so nice. I'm happy with it and although a Subi was a close second in the end we are a diehard toyota family.

i looked at those too, but it's a bit too big for what i need. also i figured the smaller the vehicle, the better the gas mileage.

    thanks for the recommendation

im gonna go by the dealer and test drive one.
they look absolutely gorgeous. the only hesitation i would have is that it's a mazda.

i currently own two 1993 mazda fd rx7's and they are not the most reliable lol...then again rotarys aren't known for that, but they are fast and sound amazing!

that is beautiful ride...love the lunar color too.
is it awd? what was price point if you don't mind me asking?

the one i looked at was about 30k. around 32k for awd hybrid. this is probably the best option because of the money youd save in gas.

im a huge toyota fan myself...i currently own an 05 tacoma xrunner, 19 trd sport tacoma and a 95 mkiv hardtop supra.

in the past ive owned two...yes two 2016 texas ed. tacomas, an 88 mkiii supra and a 93 rhd jdm mkiv supra.

    lol...i wish!

i just love 90's japanese sports cars. hoping one day to own the big 4...just need a gtr and an nsx.

would probably have to sell/trade one of the fd's to fund it tho. the supra is my favorite...im on my 3rd.

We have a 2018 CrossTrek with 55000 miles now. 32-33 MPG in the winter with snow tires, 33-35 MPG in the summer time with all season radials. Been a very good vehicle.

22" of snow on a 7% grade is the Subaru's limitations.

that is a great example...love it.
one of mine is a stockish twin turbo 5 speed.
the other one is a built big single turbo 5 speed widebody.

i need to post pics but i lost them when my phone died. ill take pics once this winter storm(s) is over.

    wow...that is awesome!

any issues? would you buy another?
could you compare it to other suv's?

was just looking at the 2021 on the subi website. it's a great looking suv...only gets 1 mpg less than the xv and about 2k more but with a bit more amenities.

It has not been to the dealership once. The radio sometimes shuts off and restarts from what the wife says. Probably doing an app update.

    https://www.autoblog.com/buy/2019-Subaru-Crosstrek/safety-features/

She really likes the crosstrek. I do believe she would get another. Would I buy one? No. I require 300 hp out of my daily at a minimum.

The only other SUV's we have owned are 4Runners which are in a whole different class.

For what it's worth, my folks got a '20 outback and after driving a '20 forester for a few days due to some service stuff, they wish they had gotten the forester. I didn't ask why, but that's what they said. I'm not much a fan of the new outback's or foresters since I feel they lack character.

I bought a RAV4 Hybrid as my daily, I freaking LOVE it. It gets fantastic gas mileage in the summer (I live in a northern climate) I get over 40 MPG’s summer, maybe 35 winter. It’s not inexpensive but it’s not crazy either. I looked at all the options you’re eyeing including driving a lot of Subarus and I liked the RAV the best. The Sube Forester was the most cost effective option by far. Interestingly enough the Outback came back with the least expensive insurance quote. Rav4 was the highest. Can’t lose either way but we’re a Toyota family so it was a no brainer for me. Oh the AWD is great I live in Upstate NY and we get a lot of snow. It’s worked out very well. Good luck!

We have one of those too, it’s even an Adventure model! lol, my wife’s. She is crazy about it. Her previous car was an X1 and she says she likes this one a heck of a lot more. The Lunar Rock does look very cool.
