Finally purchased a set of Recaro Sportster Seats. These are an OEM set from a Nissan Juke RS. What makes these nice is that they have side airbags, manual slide rails, and the driver side has manual height adjustment. The passenger seat does have occupant sensors, but I'm not counting on them being compatible. Adapting the rails to the Tacoma is the first order of business. Then I'll start looking at recovering them, and maybe add some heat.

    Interesting take.

I had a regular Juke as a rental for a month between Tacomas and it was the second worst car I’ve had the pleasure of driving.

@Jowett those seats look amazing! Good luck with the project.

Was the first the arcadia? I bet it was an Arcadia. They make the PT cruiser seem just a boring mistake.

1991 Ford Escort Wagon. I could wax poetic about how bad that car was. It nearly bankrupted my Mom and I hate it for that. It was an awful, awful machine.

Definitely worth sacrificing the map pocket on the back of the passenger seat.

Arcadia is a city in Louisianna, famous for being the location that Frank Hammer ambushed Bonnie and Clyde and ventilated the living shit out of them with a BAR.
The Acadia is a piece of shit GM crossover that makes a PT Cruiser look like a quality vehicle.

    Just sayin

Years ago I had a Chevy Corsica Rental Car with only an AM Radio for a 1000 mile road trip, lousy experience in an absolutely horrendous abysmal vehicle.

Either way I couldn't sit more than 30 minutes in it without it making my back injuries kill like a mofo. Which is a first for me.

I had a Rogue as a month long rental, some time around 2006-ish, first model year that had that godawful CVT.

My first car was a 1985 Cimarron. And I used to think that a front-wheel-drive, iron-duke-inline-4 Cadillac was the worst car I've ever owned or driven.

I used to think that until I got behind the wheel of that Rogue.

You haven’t lived till you have driven a smart car. Nice seats OP. Interesting that you are putting them in a Tacoma. Looking forward to seeing them installed and be proved wrong that they will suit the truck.

There's nothing like a well bolstered Recaro seat in rough terrain. Either fast or slow, the reduction in fatigue is substantial... it leaves your arms and hands available to actually steer and shift, not splitting duty with holding on.

Nice curious to see if you get the side airbags to work. Everyone bypasses them when they swap. I swapped in a set of Audi S5 seats last year. I thought about trying to get them to work but didn’t want to set them off trying.

I don't foresee any issues with the air bags. There are several threads on various forums showing how to deal with adapting the harness. There are also some Recaro instructions floating around... Here is a set in a Hilux, so possible proof they work in a Toyota.
