My truck just turned over 29,000 and I had it in for an oil change. The dealer recommended the 30,000 mile service and I already changed the plugs and cabin air filter and rotated tires. The dealer said I should also have a 4 wheel alignment and this:
    REC EVAP SERVICE 1.0HR

which I didn't notice until I got home, so my question is...what is it?

Sounds like something to do with the A/C. If your A/C is working fine, I wouldn't pay for it.

Sounds like they cleaned the EVAP system. Deposits tend to build up. I think it is recommended every 30k miles

It wasn't anything I actually paid for, it was on my oil change invoice as a customer declined service. Funny because they never offered it to me so I don't know how I declined it, I am mainly just curious what it means.

It's for service of the Receiver / Evaporator in the A/C system. If your A/C is working okay, don't worry about it.

Most codes at dealerships are the same.
    REC - Recommend
    EVAP - Evaporative emissions system
Service - service and or cleaning/inspection
1.0HR - Labor time to be charged, 1 hour.

First off, everyone knows that I am a big supporter of dealerships, and their technicians. That being said this sounds like a dealership that has added s "service" to their menu options to try and help increase revenue. These "menu" items are something that I did not always agree with when I was working for dealers. I never attempted to upsell something that I truly did not believe was NEEDED to take care of your vehicle. your EVAP system has to do with your fuel system's vapor recovery system. I have NEVER in my career seen the need to have it serviced. However I do know that from time to time the fresh air intake vent does get dirty and clogged, causing erratic operation of the EVAP system. Whenever I found this I usually removed the filter and blew it out free of charge for my customers as a courtesy. Perhaps that dealership is looking for ways to make a profit on this.

Some services are a good idea to do as preventative maintenance. For instance you wouldn't wait until you started having trouble with your lubrication system before you changed your oil, right? You replace engine air filters, cabin air filters, and change your oil at recommended service intervals. (I would hope) However unless the manufacturer recommends that you get this "REC EVAP service" done at a specific interval however, I would decline that service. I see no applicable reason to get something like that done.

Have a look at your owners manual I don't recall that being a service item.
