I've got a cracked cylinder head in my 3.4 that needs to be replaced and am looking around at various cylinder head re-manufacturers and trying to figure out who to give my money to.

I've narrowed it down to these few (unless anyone has any other suggestions):

    Cylinder Heads International - remanufactured
Odessa Cylinder Head/Clearwater Cylinder Head - remanufactured or new
    JIS Engine - remanufactured
    Japan Engine - new

Has anyone here ever purchased cylinder heads from any of these? Anyone ever have problems with the aftermarket/new cylinder heads from Japan Engine or Odessa?

I can't speak to your question, just wondering where the crack developed and was it after an overheat situation?

Crack occurred around the valve guides on cyl #5 with symptoms starting to show at around 200k miles on engine. No overheats while I have been the owner for the past 40k miles. Previous owner had the TRD supercharger installed though so that may have had something to do with it.

Just what kind of prices are you looking at??

Used heads rebuilt close to home.

Just how do the two options compare ??

Myself I have the worst luck getting parts like this across the country .

Like order 8 rods get shipped six with a note saying the last 2 are on back order should be here in 2 months

It's less Tacoma and more mod
I had a local shop send it to their head rebuilder. He ordered a new head casting and swapped all my parts over (including new seals and valve shims). It alone cost about $800 to have done, but I have a 4cyl so it could be less money for you.
