My previous intro to this thread and now bane of my existence the supercharged thread have led to ultimately decide that seeing as I bought a used TRD super with 32k on it that I should do the simple not crazy enhancing mods that improve the overall life of the supercharger and hopefully increase output by a nominal amount.

I am looking to rebuild the super... want to change drive oil and clean everything I can and replace O-rings to new condition basically make it all new again without sending off to have it rebuilt.

My few replacement parts that the kit was missing are on the way and will take 4-5 days to ship as magnuson has to ship to SO then ship to me. WTF over on why magnuson won’t sell me the parts but whatever. I’ve procured everything except new hoses and belt so far. Anyone recommend a Gates belt for this? Should I change anything that is known to fail? Small upgrade that will not affect tune seeing as I am getting a buddy hookup at the dealer I don’t want to run anything crazy.

Also for reading boost do I need an aftermarket gauge of sorts? Or us this something that my ultragauge can read?

    Thanks guys!

Here's a good link for DIY maint

Yes, im running a gates fleetrunner with my 2.5. Running the 69.5"

About to swap to a 2.3 and a gates RPM belt. It'll be 69" long

Anyways, here is a link with belt info in the OP for all different sized s/c pullies. You should save this and refer back to it, it's got tons of great info courtesy of @12TRDTacoma

YES, the supercharger belt tensioner is known to fail. Upgrade to the Roush unit. Also in the link i posted above for the s/c thread

Yes you'd need a boost/vacuum gauge, but i recommend Air/Fuel ratio gauges before adding a boost gauge. Allows you to keep an eye on the fuel mixture and make sure it's running correctly

    Thanks for responding man!

Do you have set of gauges you would recommend or run with success? I’m new to the horsepower game of the Tacoma. I’ve done tons of stuff to the truck. Gears, suspension, armor, electrical, everything else you could think of so naturally I am now needing power. I just don’t want to sacrifice any reliability so my intention is to set it up as it would come with a few tweaks and mild changes that won’t affect but only enhance serviceability and longevity of the S/C.

I just changed the drive oil and inspected everything it looks fine minus being dirty for having 32k on it. Put in the ZZperformance coupler, fresh bead of rtv and some gm supercharger oil.

There a trick to cleaning the air cooler inside the super charger? Is brake cleaner acceptable to clean it with?

If your running the stock pulley I’d use a gates RPM belt, they make the stock size.

Sorry for the delayed response! Im running AEM gauges and i love them. They auto dim, depending on how bright or dark it is outside, really a nice design, and super simple to wire up.

Im not 100% sure on the best way to clean the intercooler.. i think i remember folks mentioning they used carb/choke cleaner but im not 100% certain on that. You may want to pop into the s/c thread and ask that, im sure someone will know!
