    Hi friends,

Does anyone know the easiest way to remove this black cap on the bottom of the shock body? Tried a pipe wrench and it started to scratch the cap. I thought it was suppose to “pop off” after reading a write up on expediting portal, but seems almost like it’s stuck.

Lock shock in vise, cover a flat head screwdriver with a rag, and tap off the cap with a rubber mallet. It should indeed just pop off.

Thanks for the confirmation. I’ll give that a try, wanted to make sure I wasn’t smacking a threaded cap hah. Once I get these disassembled can I call you all up to get a specific valve stack, seals and shock oil?

No, we don't send out tuned valving for customers to install themselves, but we can sell you shims, seal kits and oil if needed.

There is a c clip in there too, push down on the cap to remove it. Careful when you remove the piston, you don't want a volcano.

@AccuTune Offroad Good catch, I should’ve said specific shims for a shim stack.
@Prayn4surf good call, this first one was leaking and doesn’t have any pressure… using these as a test rebuild just to see if I can since they’re oily paper weights right now.

Rebuilding shocks is pretty simple, just can be messy haha

Getting closer…I think these shocks have been rebuilt before. Probably going to keep the shims since I have no idea of how they ride (never had them on the truck) and don’t think they need to be replaced.

@AccuTune Offroad, I think I have everything I need in the cart just wanted to clarify a few things.
    1. Is the kit on your site (pic below) for a 2.0 with a RR or without one? If without, do you have one available?

    2. Is your definition of tuned valving = custom shim stack for my specific application or something different?
    3. Your kit says it excludes the main piston wear band (should be within the orange square), is that because you don’t recommend replacing when rebuilding?
