Sorry beforehand if this should've been posted elsewhere.

I have around $150 of Amazon credit - Amazon currently has the Falken Wildpeaks (265/70 17) going for $129 each.

I could get all 4 and end up paying around $400 after taxes, however reading through this forum I've noticed a lot people praising certain tire shops (America's Tire) for their price matching and great service.

Any major downside to not buying these at a tire shop? No extra warranties through Amazon?
More expensive labor costs if not purchased at a shop?

    Any feedback is appreciated.

You probably lose all warranty on any kind of damage or pre-mature failure if they're not installed by who you bought them from. That's been my experience in the past when buying tires at one place and having them installed elsewhere.

I ordered 265/75/16 duratracs from Amazon and received 265/75/16 Goodyear tires but they weren’t duratracs. I chalked it up to the warehouse workers not knowing anything about tires. Very disappointed when it arrived and was a hassle to return.

I would just make sure it's a legit seller and not some weird 3rd party vendor so that the manufacturer's warranty is still in effect.

There was a thread on here where some people found a great deal on SPCs through Amazon but when one or two of them needed to warranty them they were denied because they bought them from an unapproved vendor

This is true. But $400 for truck tires, I’d take that gamble.

You cant look at the manuf date cast in the tire until they arrive. They could already be old. Or not.

If they have the brand and size you want, Costco has good pricing and a killer warranty package.

Nothing wrong with buying a tire from Amazon, but if the tire has an issue it is easily resolved if you buy it from the same place you install it.
Also, I checked a few days ago and I think Wildpeaks were $114 a tire for p rated in 265/70/17 on amazon. Might wanna wait until they drop to that again

Just bought some from Amazon, tires came in a single day which is amazing. While these are my first tires I've purchased from here, I can't think of any reason to not buy it from Amazon. Maybe I'll learn something new in this thread

I ordered 4 new returned Wildpeaks from a very well known online company which I will not mention here. 2500 hd GMC. Had less than 1000 miles on them. Description stated they "Visually Couldn't Find any Defects" so I bought them. Free Shipping and $365 dollars> 2 of the 4 were so out of round my local tire company couldn't do anything with them. Now my 2500 hd humps down the road more than I ever thought I could. Just an FYI. You get what you pay for!

I bought my 285/70/17 falkens on Amazon and they were delivered to my door the next day. Exactly what I ordered, brand new wrapped with stickers. Lowest price out of any shop near me. 30k miles later all is good.

No reason not to buy tires from amazon as long as you are buying new
