OK, first I'm an old guy, hence the name, AND I'm a new (to me) Tacoma owner (a 2015 model).
I know this subject has been hit before, but I couldn't find anything recent, so I have questions.

I have the "plain Jane" mirror, just a mirror. I want to upgrade to a Compass/Temp/auto-dim version. Sounds simple (maybe).

After removing the ovhd console, I "found" the little white 14 pin connector taped back out of the way, but it only has a few wires connected (see pic).

I want to know everything needed to accomplish the upgrade, and any comments, suggestions, tips... etc.

    Thanks...

    Welcome to TW!

Depending on how your truck is equipped, that's the mirror connection for power, etc. Unfortunately, there are a LOT of mirror options that don't seem constrained by model numbers. When I upgraded my mirror (from one with Auto-Dimming, 3.3" Camera Display, Temp, & Compass to one with Auto-Dimming, 3.3" Camera Display, Temp, Compass & HomeLink), I found several with the right model number from other vehicles, none of which appeared to have the right connector.

I ended up buying my "new" mirror from Bob's Automotive Mirrors & More LLC (https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...for-the-2009-15-tacomas-other-toyotas.367150/ and https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...for-the-2009-15-tacomas-other-toyotas.328083/), who made sure I got one that's compatible with my truck. Throughout the process, Bob was very helpful and forthcoming with info and answers to my questions. Recommend contacting him for the parts and advice you need.

It all depends on what mirror model you get. They may have plug and play options out there.

That 3 wire connector is for the electro-chromatic (auto-dimming) style mirror...if you want more features, you will need to modify the circuits.
Green is ignition switched power, RED is 12 volt constant and the WHT/BLK is ground.
