Resurrecting an old 2nd gen thread that fizzled out. What kind of rear mount options do we have? I've got a ton of empty space under my bed from where I removed the spare. (Fullsize lives in the bed now.)

What kind of options do we have? Anyone consider fabbing a tube bumper/winch mount for the rear?

Or you could use the empty space for a full oba system

Yeah... I'd prefer to have it with me at all times. Sometimes I wheel right after work.

I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Well, techinically our trucks have lockers. But for oba I was thinking more like being able to air tires, use an air gun, etc. Simple things... Or even get some good air horns :D

Offroad guys have rear lockers, but one thing I was considering is forgetting about the winch and saving up for front and rear ARB lockers.

But stuck is stuck and this is my daily driver. I can't afford to let it sit. Hence my winch question.

You could invest in one of those Slimline bumpers with a hidden winch and have the winch up front

Yeah, that’s the idea I’ve been bouncing around, but I’ve already got a custom tube bumper that I’d have to resell and probably have to consider redoing my front suspension.

I’d prefer to add the weight to the rear.

Understandable, you could probably get a sheet of metal, bolt it to the frame, then bolt the winch to the metal

How can I be sure it'll be sturdy enough?

Hitch mount. Leave it in a lock box in bed. Then have it.
