Rear Sway Bar versus Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement?

    I have a 2013 Tacoma 4WD LTD and have installed a Hellwig rear anti-sway bar. It helps with cornering, but if I ever need to go off road I think it will be more of a hindrance. I have the Wheelers rear bump stops, but they will be tricky to work with my Flip kit. The Timbren kit looks like it fits the flip kit pretty well. While I realize they are for different functions (the Wheelers bump stops for off road/bottoming out, and the Timbren for extra loads) I know that Timbren also claims better cornering with the rear "suspension enhancement system" and I was wondering if the Timbren kit is similar to the Hellwig when it comes to cornering? I don't do a lot a off roading, but want my truck ready for most things. I would rather have it an not need it than need it and not have it. Any advice from my Taco bros is GREATLY appreciated!

    I don't think of the SES and the antiroll bar as being the same. The SES appears to be more of a helper spring, which can help with cornering by controlling the amount of roll you get, but it appears to me to be the same as increasing the spring rate, as far as corning is concerned.

    The anti-roll bar does not affect spring rate, but controls the body roll during cornering.

    Now, downside to the antiroll bar is that when you get to the limit of the amount of roll it can control, it can unload the inner tire and cause it to snap over to oversteer. The SES should be a bit smoother on transition to oversteer at the limit. I would suspect that the SES would have a lower roll limit though then the bar.

    Just my opinion anyway.....

    Thanks Lurkin, makes sense. I would like to have something that helps with the body roll, but does not affect ground clearance like the brackets on the Hellwig setup. Are there any other products that would work better?

    Not an offroader where the roll bar makes any difference, but you're are at competing priorities. Only other thing I could think of is sway bar disconnects for the rear and front bars. Not sure if they make rear disconnects though. Otherwise you're left to optimize whichever one is more important to you, or manually disconnect the bars as necessary.

    I understand what you are saying, makes sense. I don't do a lot of off-roading, but would still like to keep the clearance as high as possible for when/if I need it, but also am not crazy about the lean in sharp curves. Decisions, decisions.
