What is everyone using as a tool to slide on new rear main seals?
I don't think the seal comes with one as some other car seals do,

One time I used a soda bottle cut and melted into shape (heated up) to install a smaller seal
and was thinking of going to a few stores to see what bottle selection they have, to try and find a close match to the seal diameter size, to recreate basically the same thing.

I'm not sure if it just hammers on,
or if it's better to slide the seal over the crank too, using a custom tool

Rear leaf suspension. Home done tailgate re-inforcement.
You may do better if you can find a PVC coupling of the proper size.

Got any mechanic friends? Definitely not something you want to risk installing incorrectly for lack of a proper tool

Nothing. First didn’t really need to remove the rear plate the seal goes in( no big deal though). Normally you would have reinstalled the plate first. Put some grease on the inner portion of the seal and just tap it in. There is not a special tool that goes over the part the flywheel mounts to.
